Reinforcing Teachers-Home Tutors’ Partnership: Gear Up for the New Normal

Balaod sa K to 12
Republic Act No. 10533 provides for the establishment
of the K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum, a major
reform of the Department of Education (DepEd), which
aims to develop the learners holistically with 21st century
skills through an integrated system of education relevant
to the needs of the people, the country and society-at-
large.

Reinforcing Teachers-Home Tutors’ Partnership: Gear Up for the New Normal

Rationale:

R.A. 10533 intends to provide the learners with an

opportunity to build upon their prior knowledge while
utilizing their own skills, interests, learning styles, and
talents.
It highlights the learners’ involvement in the dynamic
social process which responds to and reflects the
changing social conditions.

Reinforcing Teachers-Home Tutors’ Partnership: Gear Up for the New Normal

Ensure that all of our
528,749 Cebuano learners
can avail quality,

education as envisioned by
Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones
with face-to-face classes still
prohibited due to the public health
situation.

Reinforcing Teachers-Home Tutors’ Partnership: Gear Up for the New Normal

To embrace this New Normal Situation, there is a need
to capacitate the teachers and home tutors on their roles
and responsibilities, and other important considerations to
effectively and efficiently deliver the different learning
modalities based on the context of the learners.

TEACHER – HOME TUTOR PARTNERSHIPS
“ It takes a
VILLAGE to
EDUCATE a
CHILD”
We are all familiar with the ancient
African proverb that says, “It takes a village to
raise a child.” The people your children are
around in their everyday lives will effect who
your children will grow up to be. Neighbors,
teachers, coaches and church leaders will have
an effect on who your child will be in the
future.
The Old African proverb says, “It takes a village to
educate a child” becomes significant today in our fight
against COVID-19 pandemic. We are all helping one
another to craft initiatives, programs and projects, to
capacitate us to make us more aware and can easily
adapt this New Normal in the new educational
landscape to deliver the said quality education to our
clientele, the SUGBUANON LEARNERS.

BIDA ang solusyon sa COVID-19
The "BIDA Solusyon sa COVID-19" aims to encourage the Filipino
people to take an active role in the fight against our common

simplified into 4 letters:
B - Bawal walang mask

What is Assessment?
● It is an on-going process of identifying,
gathering, organizing, and interpreting
quantitative and qualitative information about
what the learners know and can do.
(DepEd Order No. 8, s. 2015, p. 1)
ASSESSMENT
It is the learning outcomes in the form of knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values that
will be assessed. Learners shall prepare their portfolio/e-portfolio to include written works,
and performances (and products), whether hardcopy, softcopy, or a combination of both. The
portfolio/e-portfolio will be assessed using rubrics that capture the evidence of learning.
Testimonies of parents and other adults including community leaders aside from teachers
may also be considered in the assessment.
(The Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan in time of
COVID-19, Chapter 5,
p.33, F.)
Education Undersecretary Nepomuceno Malaluan, in an
interview with CNN Philippines last August 12, 2020, shared
that DepED may release an interim policy guidelines on
assessment and grading learners under the new normal.
He pointed out that the review is taking some time
because they are still seeking the opinion of experts and
getting inputs from teachers on the ground in terms of the
“practicability of the guide.”
He emphasized that we would focus on formative
assessments rather than on summative ones.

Three Formative Questions
1. Where is the learning going?
(Where am I going?)
2. Where is the learner right now?
(Where am I now?)
3. How will I get there?
(What will I do?)
Framework Model:
Teach – Assess – Interpret - Adjust
Key Assessment Principles

1. Assessment is integral to teaching and learning.

2. Assessment must be holistic and authentic.
3. Assessment and feedback should be shared
responsibility among teachers and their families.
4. Assessment and feedback should create positive
impact.
Levels of Feedback

1. Task Level
2. Process level
3. Product level
It can be done in platforms such as
text messaging, telephone calling, fb
messenger, etc.
Feedback must be: (kung naay problema
kabahin sa module, idirekta lang ang
problema sa maestra)
1. Timely ( sulti dayon)
2. Personalized (musulti sa maestra nga hingtungdan)
3. Actionable (mahatagan ug solbad dayun)
4. Constructive (Muhatag ug suhestiyon)
It can be administered in synchronous and
asynchronous forms.

SYNCHRONOUS (dungan ang estudyante ug

teacher o online) where the teacher and the
students are working together at the same time
via online platforms like Zoom, Microsoft Teams
and Google Meet or even through phone calls
ASYNCHRONOUS (dili dungan)form where the
teacher and the students are separated by both
space and time, online tools such as Google
Classroom can help teachers to provide feedback
to students through questions, tasks, activities,
and quizzes.
Key Actions for Parents and Teachers

1. Understanding the learning target and the purpose

of the Assessment.
2. Use informal observations.
3. Provide feedback whenever necessary.
4. Share insights of the results of Assessment,
strengths, interests and challenges in daily
activities.
5. Engage discussions for the next steps.
“If teaching is an art , then formative
assessment- the planned, ongoing
processes used to elicit and use
evidence of student learning- is one of its
fundamentals”.
