INFORMATIVE SPEECH
HOW TO CONTROL EMOTIONS

STUDENTS NAME : TAN PEI JUN

INTRODUCTION
• Are you happy today? For me, I am not very happy, but also rather than very sad.
• Dr. Carmen Harra
• Emotions are the most present, pressing and sometimes painful force in our lives. We
are driven day by day by our emotions. We take chances because we’re excited for
new prospect. We cry because we’ve been hurt. We make sacrifices because we love.
• Mr. Marshall Sylver
• When you control your thoughts and emotions, you control everything.
• Topic is the three ways to control emotions
• Do not react right way
• Find a healthy outlet
• Replace your thoughts.
BODY
• Do Not Reach Right Away
• Reacting immediately to emotional triggers can be an immense
mistake
• To avoid doing reaction directly, especially when meeting negative
emotion
• Dictate thoughts with superior authority to rational minds.
• We always make decisions that we later lament. (Act on emotions too
quickly/wrong kinds of emotions)
• Ex. Conversation with my mum.
• Take a deep breath and think about what you want to say.
• To breathe deeply for a few minutes and perhaps close your eyes.
• Affirm to yourself that this is only temporary
• Mr. Terry Schmitz- Think before you speak or act.
• To step away from the situation for a moment.
• Feel very lucky that there are not happening any unhappily
• Find a Healthy Outlet
• A healthy outlet can help people to release emotions in
efficiently
• Emotions should never be bottled up, conversely need to release in a right way.

• Act on smoking and drinking which are unhealthy outlet.

• Elizabeth Scott- Regular exercise can provide an emotional lift as well as an

outlet for negative emotions.
• Relax our minds and Emotion will disappear in quickly
• We need to choose a healthy outlet which is suit us,
rather then in coercion.
• Everyone has their own way of living life.
• Some people like outdoor activities, and others like indoor activities.
• Ex. taken a nap.
• It is only accepted during examination and burns a midnight oil.
• Conversely to others who always accept it as a good outlet.
• Replace your thoughts
• Replace it with different thought and views.
• Susan Krauss Whitbourne- By changing your thoughts you may not be able
to change the situation but you can at least change the way you believe the
situation is affecting you
• Force it (something terrible) out of your mind and replace it with a different
thought.
• Ex. Request to working outside and rejected.

• Trying to think about their standpoint, the new perception and

understanding will appear in my mindset.
• Imagine an ideal resolution to the problem, just think
about someone who makes you happy or remember
an event that makes you smile.
• Ex. Problem: Homesick; Solution: Making a telephone call to family.
• Ex. Good friends and 3C.
• You feel lucky and blessed that you are not alone.
• Your emotion turns better and the sources of emotional become small
case. You believe that something good is coming your way in further
days, rather than always trapped in something bad.
CONCLUSION
• Controlling emotions well can make your life easier, even for those
people around you.
• Please bear in mind that do not react right away, find a healthy outlet
and replace yout thought.
• I hope that all of you can always have a emotion that you can control
well.
