Opening Song
Opening Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for
your deep love towards us and thank
you for sending your only begotten
son, our savior Jesus Christ to suffer
on the cross for our sake, so that our
sins could be forgiven and that we
may live with you forever in heaven.
Lord, we know that we do not warrant
your love and yet you have showered
unconditional love and grace towards
us through Christ, for which we praise
and thank You. But Lord, you desire
all your children to love others as
Christ loved us, but our love is poor
and weak for all that You desire for us.
Fill us we pray, with the love of Christ
that we may love others in the same
way that Christ loved us, so that as
your love pours into our soul, we
may be used as a conduit for Christ’s
love to stream out to others with
whom we come into contact.
Help us to demonstrate your love, not
only to those that are lovable, but also to
those who lash out at us through pain or
anger, disappointment or loss. May the
love of Jesus be manifested in us, and
may the love of Jesus be distributed, by
grace through faith. These all we ask in
Jesus' name our Lord. Amen.
Prayer to the Holy Spirit
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your
faithful. And kindle in them the fire of
your love. Send forth your Holy Spirit,
and they be created. And you shall
renew the face of the earth.
Let us pray:
O God, who by the Light of the Holy
Spirit, did instruct the hearts of your
faithful. Grant that by the same Holy
Spirit we may be truly wise and ever
rejoice in His consolations through Christ
our Lord. Amen.

Gospel
Reading
Reader: A reading from the holy gospel
according to ST. MATTHEW
When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees,
they gathered together, and one of them,
a scholar of the law tested him by asking,
"Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?"
He said to him, "You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart,
with all your soul, and with all your mind.
This is the greatest and the first commandment.
The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
The whole law and the prophets depend on these two
commandments."
