Bible Faith Sharing

Silence…
Opening Song
Opening Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for
your deep love towards us and thank
you for sending your only begotten
son, our savior Jesus Christ to suffer
on the cross for our sake, so that our
sins could be forgiven and that we
may live with you forever in heaven.
Lord, we know that we do not warrant
your love and yet you have showered
unconditional love and grace towards
us through Christ, for which we praise
and thank You. But Lord, you desire
all your children to love others as
Christ loved us, but our love is poor
and weak for all that You desire for us.
Fill us we pray, with the love of Christ
that we may love others in the same
way that Christ loved us, so that as
your love pours into our soul, we
may be used as a conduit for Christ’s
love to stream out to others with
whom we come into contact.
Help us to demonstrate your love, not
only to those that are lovable, but also to
those who lash out at us through pain or
anger, disappointment or loss. May the
love of Jesus be manifested in us, and
may the love of Jesus be distributed, by
grace through faith. These all we ask in
Jesus' name our Lord. Amen.
Prayer to the Holy Spirit
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your
faithful. And kindle in them the fire of
your love. Send forth your Holy Spirit,
and they be created. And you shall
renew the face of the earth.
Let us pray:
O God, who by the Light of the Holy
Spirit, did instruct the hearts of your
faithful. Grant that by the same Holy
Spirit we may be truly wise and ever
rejoice in His consolations through Christ
our Lord. Amen.

Gospel
Reading
Reader: A reading from the holy gospel
according to ST. MATTHEW

All: Glory to you, oh Lord.

MATTHEW 22:34-40

When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees,
they gathered together, and one of them,
a scholar of the law tested him by asking,
"Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?"
He said to him, "You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart,
with all your soul, and with all your mind.
This is the greatest and the first commandment.
The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
The whole law and the prophets depend on these two
commandments."
Reader: The gospel of the Lord

All: Praise to you Lord, Jesus Christ.

Intercessions
(Response: God of love, hear us!)
Leader: Our God commanded us to love
Him and our neighbors. We pray
that we may respond in His
abundant love with deep faith. With
trust and love to God, we pray:

God of love, hear us.

1. For Francis, our Pope, Antonieto, our
Bishop, and all ministers of Christ’s Church,
that they may be strengthened by the Holy
Spirit in their preaching the good news of
salvation, let us pray to the Lord . . .

God of love, hear us.

2. For peace throughout the world, that all
leaders of prayer may be open to the
hungers of their people for justice, peace
and security, let us pray to the Lord . . .

God of love, hear us.

3. For all men and women who risk
loneliness, rejection, and even persecution in
their efforts to spread peace and
understanding amidst this trying time, let us
pray to the Lord . . .

God of love, hear us.

4. For those who suffer from sickness and
disease, hunger and thirst, homelessness
and unemployment; that they may receive a
loving response to their needs, let us pray to
the Lord . . .

God of love, hear us.

5. For our loved ones who have died may
rest in peace and embrace God happily in
his Kingdom, let us pray to the Lord. . .

God of love, hear us.

6. For our own intentions . . . (pause). Let us
pray to the Lord. . .

God of love, hear us.

Leader: Gracious God, you commanded us
to love even beyond the law. May
we cherish one another and be
heartened by your love. Through
them, may your Church be blessed.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Closing Song
Closing Prayer
Lord, thank you that we are a family in Christ
gathered here today. Help us to share your love and
legacy to everyone that we encounter everyday.
May we lavish Christ’s abounding goodness upon
our families, friends and colleagues. Holy Spirit,
come and equip us in our workplace, guide us in
our daily undertakings, and inspire us in our
neighbourhood.
May we be your hands and feet to the needy, your
words of affirmation to the oppressed and your arms
of comfort to the lonely. Lord, your word is a lamp to
our feet and a light to our path. Thank you that we
can live in Your light and walk in Your truth. May the
things that you have revealed and thoughts that we
have shared dwell in our hearts and stir us to action.
We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus. Amen.
