Guideline #5:

Screening & Admission of


Students & Organization of
Class
Who are qualified to enroll in
the OHSP?
A. The OHSP is open to all Filipino
Learners of HS age who can
demonstrate capacity of
independent learning and are
willing to undertake self-
directed / self-paced learning.
B. They must submit the
following:
• Report Card
• PEPT qualifying certificate
• A & E qualifying certificate
• Photocopy of Birth Certificate
• 4 pcs. 1x1 picture (white background)
• Certificate of Employment
(if working)
C. The learner must undergo
two stages of assessment.
The Independent Learning Readiness
Test (ILRT) shall be given to assess the
learner’s capacity of self-directed
learning.
The 2nd stage Informal Reading
Inventory (IRI) which shall measure the
learner’s reading level as basis for class
grouping.
D. Interview with the Parent / Guardian
/ Employer to give the school a
profile of the learner’s Socio-
economic, health & psycho-social
background.
 When qualified, the learner and their parent /
guardian shall sign a learning agreement, which
includes the following:
• what the school expects from the learner.
• what the school expects from the guardian.
• the learning modules to be coursed and
target dates of completion.

Where will the interested
learners apply?
E. Each class in the OHSP shall have
a maximum enrolment of twenty
(20) per class. Learners
(20) learners
shall be grouped or assigned to a
class based on the results of
(IRI) Informal Reading
Inventory. The grouping of
learners into a class is for the
purpose of teacher supervision.
The Curriculum & Learner’s
Accountability
A. The OHSP follow the same
curriculum with the regular class.
B. Enrolment shall be every June of
every, following the Prescribed
School Calendar
C. Learning in the OHSP shall be
flexible, multi-chanelled &
essentially learner directed.
D. For the First Semester of the School Year,
the learner shall be expected to report to
the teacher/adviser and the subject area
teacher on a weekly basis to establish
learner’s readiness or independent study.
This shall be subsequently reduce to a
monthly consultation during the Second
half of the School Year after the learner
have demonstrated capacity for self-
directed learning. Whenever possible, all
learning resources other than modules &
textbooks shall be made available to the
learner.
E. Release of Modules

• Modules of all subject areas shall be


released to the enrollees at the same
time. If a learner cannot complete the
modules scheduled for a given period,
submission may be delayed for a
maximum of two weeks per grading.
• Modules will come from the Bureau of
Secondary Education for reproduction in
the implementation of the OHSP.
The OHSP learner is expected to:
 Attend the orientation program together with the
parent / guardian / employer to understand the program
better & to accomplish the learner’s & parents agreement
 Study independently or work in group with or without
the supervision of the teacher
 Consult with the subject area teacher or any
knowledgeable person in the community on topics or
skill areas that may require outside help.
 Secure appointment with the teacher for face to face
sessions or for direct instruction relative to lessons that
the learner may find difficult to undertake or that may
need reinforcement
 Develop basic computer literacy.
 Close supervision & monitoring of individual learner’s
progress shall be conducted by the subject area teacher.
