BOOSTING CONFIDENCE
1. Reflect on your strengths. Work on enhancing your forte,
skills, and qualities.

2. Use positive body language. Stand tall. Make eye

contact. Smile. Avoid tilting head that signals submission.

3. Adjust your focus. Instead of worrying how others see

you, express interest in others. Engage and support others.
Work on giving rather than getting.
4. Own your strengths. Appreciate your uniqueness and be
kind to yourself.

5. Boost your vocabulary. Dump shopworn words like “ok,”

”nice,” and “awesome” that do not mean anything. Do away
with fillers like “you know,” “I mean,” “like,” “actually,”
“basically.” Practice thinking before talking to ponder on your
succeeding lines.
General Professional Etiquette Tips

1. Proper ATTIRE.
2. Observe PUNCTUALITY.
3. Effectiveness. Use work time
effectively and appropriately. This
includes use of technology.
General Professional Etiquette Tips

4. Behavior in meetings.
It is important to engage in
respectful behavior during all
school meetings.
General Professional Etiquette Tips

5. Communication.
Please take the time to proofread
all professional documents before
you submit them.
Etiquette with Other Teachers
1. E-mail and other forms of communication

2. Discretion
Use discretion when talking about students and
anything confidential with other teachers. There are
situations where it's appropriate to discuss such
topics, but it can be very easy to gossip. Don't fall
into this trap.

3. Avoid cliques
Etiquette with Other Teachers
4. Language/topics

Use appropriate language and stick to

appropriate topics in the school environment,
particularly in front of students. This includes
referring to other teachers as Mr./Mrs. ____ and not
discussing students unless it is necessary for a
given situation.
Etiquette with Other Teachers
5. Social Media Communication
There is nothing wrong with communicating with
your fellow teachers on Facebook, Twitter, etc.
However, it's important to keep school talk away
from these public forums. Not only is it not
professional, but you never know who might be
reading. Keep comments on your Facebook Wall
and Twitter feed about school positive and fairly
general, i.e. "I'm excited about the basketball game
tonight. Go Lakers!" or "Yay for a rainy day!"

7th Self Improvement Activity:
Challenge yourself
Nothing develops you more than challenges. Challenges
force you to shift your comfort zone, experience new
situations and make you grow. Without challenges life
would be very boring and depressing.
Challenges are necessary for every human being who is
seeking quality life. Only through trial and error you
realise who you really are, which activities you like and
what preferences you have.
You can easily measure the success of a person by the
amount of challenges s/he had.

Exercise
Daily exercise develops determination, focus and
patience. People who exercise every day are always
perceived as strong-willed and disciplined.
Let’s do this!
Individually, write a letter to
yourself about the promises
that you will fulfill for your
own personal development.
“Don’t reserve your best behavior for special
occasions. You can’t have two sets of manners, two
social codes – one for those you admire and want to
impress, another for those whom you consider
unimportant. You must be the same to all people.”
