RESEARCH QUESTION

. The research question is a

way of stating the research
problem in an interrogative
manner.
RESEARCH QUESTION
 There are two ways the research problem can
be stated:
1. research question
2. declarative statement.
Stating the research problem in the form of a
research question emphasizes the need for an
answer.
The research question must mention the
population to be studied and the variables to
be observed
Research question is written as follows:

 In (population), what is the effect of

(independent variable) on (dependent
variable)?
 In (population), does (independent
variable)cause or increase risk for
(dependent variable)?
The research question

 is the basis for preparing the purpose or goal of

the study. The purpose of the study is written
with specific verbs that provides an indication of
the research design appropriate for the study.
 Rewording of the research question in
declarative will result to the purpose of the
study.
 Title of the study :
Effect Of Use of Stress Ball To The Level Of Anxiety
Among Patients Undergoing Mammography For The
First Time

 Research Question: (interrogative)

Among patients undergoing mammography for the first time, do
the use of stress ball influence their level of anxiety ?

 Purpose of the study : (declarative)

The purpose of the study is to determine the effectiveness
of the use of stress ball on influencing the level of
anxiety of among first time mammography patients.
 Title of the study :
Profile And Level Of Awareness Among Pregnant
Women In General Santos City On Ultrasonography
Diagnostic Procedure
 Research Question : (interrogative)
Among pregnant women, is there any significant
difference in their profile and level of awareness on
ultrasonographic diagnostic procedure?

 Purpose of the study: (declarative)

The purpose of the study is to determine if there is any
significant difference in the profile and level of
awareness on ultrasonographic diagnostic procedure
among pregnant women
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM (SOP)

Also called the objectives

of the study.
This can be also stated in
both declarative and
interrogative statements
 Research Question:
Among x-ray laboratory patients, does the
radiologic technologists’ emotional
quotient affect their satisfaction?
 Purpose of the Study:
The purpose of this study is to determine the
association between the radiologic
technologists’ emotional quotient and
patient satisfaction in x-ray laboratories in
general Santos City.
 Statement Of The Problem
The purpose of this study is to to determine the association between the
radiologic technologists’ emotional quotient and patient satisfaction in x-ray
laboratories in general Santos City. Specifically, it seeks to answer the
following questions:
1. What is the level of emotional quotient of the practicing radiologic
technologists in the x-ray laboratories in General Santos City?
2. What is the level of satisfaction among the x-ray laboratory patients in terms
of:
2.1. Patient preparation

2.2. Patient positioning

2.3 After care

 Is there any relationship between the radiologic technologists’ emotional
quotient and the x-ray laboratory patients’ level of satisfaction in General
Santos City?


WHAT IS A HYPOTHESIS?

Hypothesis is the
statement that declares
the expected outcome of
the study.
There are two categories of hypothesis:
 Research or alternative hypothesis declares that there is
a relationship between variables in the study. The symbol
for alternative hypothesis is Ha.
 Statistical or null hypothesis. This type of hypothesis
declares that there is no relationship between variables.
In a scientific study, the null hypothesis is used rather the
alternative hypothesis, in order to manifest the impartiality
of the researcher and to show impartiality. This practice
prevents errors or bias. The symbol for null hypothesis is
H0.
SCOPE AND DELIMITATION
The scope declares the extent
of the coverage of the study
variables to be observed

characteristics of the
participants .
Delimitation
 The delimitation include the constraints and
restrictions that can threaten the validity and
reliability of the results of the study that the
researcher wants to declare.
 This can include the methodology used in the
project such as research design, number of sample
the number of samples, the sampling procedure,
treatment or intervention to be tested in the study,
amount of time the observation is conducted,
research locale, statistical treatment etc.
