Variables are changing qualities
or characteristics of persons or
things like age, gender,
intelligence, ideas, achievements,
confidence, and so on that are
involved in the research study
(Baraceros, 2016).

Variables
It is the central concept in
research where it is a measureable
characteristic that changes in value
and it may vary from one group to
another group, one person to another
or even with the same person over
time (Boholano, Bombita, Faltado,
& Pogoy, 2016)

Variables
It is anything that may assume
varied numerical or categorical
values which may cause change
or identify relationships between
things (Boholano, et. al., 2016)

Variables
TYPES OF VARIABLES
1. Independent Variable
These are the variables that causes changes
in the subject.
2. Dependent Variable
These are the variables that manifest the
change or the effects by the independent
variable.
TYPES OF VARIABLES
3. Continuous Variable
These can take infinite numbers on the
value which can occur within a population.
4. Discrete Variable
It is also known as categorical or
classificatory variable which has only
limited number of distinct values.
TYPES OF CONTINUOUS VARIABLES
A. Interval Variable
It is the measurement where the difference
between two values does have meaning.
B. Ratio Variable
It possesses the properties of interval
variable and has a clear definition of zero.
TYPES OF DISCRETE VARIABLES
A. Nominal Variable
It is a type of variable with no quantitative
value.
B. Ordinal Variable
It is a variable that has two or more
categories which can be ranked.
TYPES OF VARIABLES
5. Extraneous Variable
These are variables that are to be
controlled.
6. Confounding Variable
It is the kind of variable that do not give in
to the control made by the experimenter.
TYPES OF VARIABLES
7. Constant Variable
These are variables that do not undergo
any changes during an experiment.
8. Attribute Variable
These are the characteristics of the subjects
included in the experiment.
TYPES OF VARIABLES
9. Covariate Variable
These are variables that create interaction
between independent and dependent
variable.

independent variable.
___2. Extraneous variables are nuisance variable.
___3. Extraneous variables are as significant as independent
variables.
___4. All variables are prone to changes ir variations.
___5. All variables are controllable.
Written Work # 5
___6. The effects of something on dependent variables are
measurable.
___7. Only words can express the effects of variables on
dependent variables.
___8. The effects of something can be shown through fractions
and percentages.
___9. It is wrong to expose the variables to changeable factors.
___10. Attribute variables have the same meanin as participants'
variables.
Task.
DIRECTIONS: With your research group mates, create a
research agenda / plan about the research that you will
be going to do.
