Course Description
Art Appreciation is a course that is primarily designed to assist the students in better understanding humanities through
appreciation, analysis, and critiquing works of art: the origin, meaning and importance. Through multimodal and interdisciplinary
approaches, this course will enable the students with extensive knowledge of the practical, historical, philosophical, and social
relevance of arts. This course will also develop the students ‘competency in researching and curating works of art. Furthermore,
this course aims to develop the students’ genuine appreciation of the Philippine arts by providing them with opportunities to
explore the diversity and richness of Philippine Culture.

EXPECTATIONS FROM STUDENT:
The student's responsibility is to come to each class prepared. She/he is also expected to take all examinations on the date scheduled. S/he should read the assigned
problems prior to class. She is expected to attend each class and participate actively in the discussions.

ACADEMIC DISHONESTY
All students are expected to be academically honest. Cheating, lying and other forms of unethical behavior will not be tolerated. Any student found guilty of cheating in
examinations or plagiarism in submitted course requirements will receive an F or failure in the course requirement or in the course. Plagiarism refers to the use of books, notes or
other intellectual property without giving proper attribution to its author, or representing the work of another person as one's own; Cheating refers to securing help in a test; copying
tests, assignments, reports or term papers; collaborating with other students during an examination or in preparing academic work signing another student's name on an
attendance
sheet; or otherwise practicing scholastic dishonesty.

POLICY on ABSENCES

The allowed number of absences for students enrolled in a 3 hours class in Cost Accounting II is maximum of 9 hours. Request for excused absences or waiver of
absences must be presented upon reporting back to class. Special examinations will be allowed only in special cases, such as prolonged illness. It is the responsibility of the
student to monitor his/her own tardy incidents and absences that might accumulate leading to a grade of ''FA.'' It is also her responsibility to consult with the teacher, chair or dean
should her/his case be of special nature.

GRADING SYSTEM:
Students will be evaluated based on homework assignments, examinations and class participation. The homework assignments and exams will be graded on a scale from
50% to 100%. Student’s grade will be divided into two: Midterm Grade and Final Grade. The Midterm Grade and Final Grade will be based and computed using the following
weights:

The CLASSCARD GRADE will be equal to the average of Midterm Grade and Final Grade based on the computation above.

Assignments: This will be assigned almost every class period. Homework will not be accepted after the due date. Exceptions will be made in extenuating circumstances and at
the discretion of the instructor

Quizzes: There will be many short and long quizzes, probably one short quiz for every class period and one long quiz for every main topic. Quizzes will relate to current and
previous topics. Quiz may be given at ANY time during any class period—immediately after the lecture, at the beginning or end of the class. Last, quizzes will be given only to
those who are present when the quizzes are passed out.

Midterm / Final Exam: The Midterm and Final Exam will be comprehensive and can be non-multiple choice problem. The examinations must be taken as scheduled and as
announced in class. Exceptions will only be made in extenuating circumstances and at the discretion of the instructor. There will be makeup exams if the students have valid
reason. Make up exams will differ from those given in class but will cover the same material. The examinations are closed book.

Attendance: The students are given 15minutes grace period before they are considered late in the class. Late or absences will be graded as 50%. Students with excuse letter or
valid reason will be considered. Anyone who has more than four unexcused absences will receive incomplete grades.
