Atmosphere in Lapland
• Lapland is a dream come true for those who
dream of a winter wonderland.
• Also, is a place of contrasts, a place where
one can enjoy 24-hour sunlight in the
summer days, but also spend dark, gloomy
winter days. The hustle of locals and ski
resorts is just minutes away from the peace
and quiet of the wild wilderness.
• Moreover, is the perfect destination for the winter
holidays. Storytelling around crackling fires and
meet-and-greets with Santa himself are on the
agenda in Lapland, known as Santa's home.
• Lapland is depicted from a book of stories, it's
snow-dusted forests, it's cosy log cabins with
warm fireplaces are meant to get everyone in the
Christmas spirit.
Symbols
• The symbols of Lapland are:
the reindeer - a masive but very
cute mammal, the bluethroat - an
exquisite bird, the salmon - a
very big and tasty fish,
the globe-flower - a yellow tiny
flower, the apple of one's eyes during
summer days.
Places
• Laplane's cosmopolitan capital is
Rovaniemi. There you can find
international shops and restaurants. Here,
the night life rivals any European city.
• There are also a lot of cities dedicated to
snow, activities, such as: Levi, Pallas,
Yllas and Kuusamo.
• If you want to see a real life winter
wonderland, Saariselka is the city that you
have to visit.
• In addition, there are igloo village and the
fameous hotel snow village.

Santa Claus Village
• Santa Claus Village is located eight
kilometers north from the centre of
Rovaniemi and is a very popular place
to cross the Arctic Circle: here the line
is marked, and you can even get a
certificate confirming the fact.
• Santa Claus spends his time at his very
own Village every day of the year to
take care of his mission in life. Santa's
village has plenty of atractions, such as:
Santa's own office, Santa's Main post
office, the Santapark, The Christmas
house of Santa and his Exhibition, and
last but not least Mrs. Clauses house
and Santa's reindeer.
Since 1927, Lapland is known to be
the home of Santa Claus or Father
Christmas.
Curiosity
• It is told that Lapland's population is made up
of more reindeer than people-(3,6% of the total
Finnish population live in Lapland, this is why
it is told that the number of reindeer is even
more than equal to the number of Sami people
living there).
• The trees in Lapland are very old. The oldest
known pine tree in Inari-Saariselkä is 529 years
old.
The Northern Lights also known as Aurora
Borealis can also be seen from Lapland.
