 The KOF Globalisation Index measures the
economic, social and political dimensions of
globalisation. Globalisation in the economic,
social and political fields has been on the rise
since the 1970s, receiving a particular boost after
the end of the Cold War.

The index is positioned as a combined

indicator that allows to assess the scale of

integration of a country into the global space

and compare different countries by its
components.

 the Index are assessed by 3 main groups of global integration:

Economic globalization - the volume of international trade, the level of international business
activity, trade flows, international investment, tariff policy, restrictions and taxes on
international trade, and so on.

Social globalization - the level of cultural integration, the percentage of foreign population,
international tourism, international personal contacts,
c the volume of telephone and Internet
traffic, postage, cross-border money transfers, information flows, the development of
information and communication infrastructure, and so on.

Political globalization - membership of states in international organizations, participation in

international missions (including UN missions), ratification of international multilateral

treaties, the number of embassies and other foreign missions in the country, and so on.
 The index of the level of
globalization is calculated as the
sum of these components with
weight coefficients of
36%, 39% and 25%, respectively.

study, a rating is made according
to the Globalization Index, which
