SAFETY PROCEDURES

What is Occupational health and

• Occupational health and safety is a cross-
disciplinary area concerned with
protecting the safety, health and welfare
of people engaged in work.
Objectives
The objective of OHS standard is to
protect working man against the dangers of
injury, sickness or death through safe and
healthful working conditions, thereby
assuring the conservation of valuable
manpower resources and the prevention of
loss or damage to lives and properties.
Personal Responsibilities for

materials you think might be unsafe.
• Report any injury or ill health.

What is Static Electricity?
ESD is a fast, silent, invisible killer of PC
components.
There are two ways that static charge can
build up to the point where an ESD becomes a
danger:
•Anything that moves or rubs against anything
else has the potential to generate static
electricity, which could result in ESD.
•A spark resulting from a poor electrical
connection or an unshielded or damaged
cable is also a form of ESD.
Symptoms of ESD Damage
• A new component/replacement doesn’t
work.
• You’ve just carried out an upgrade/repair
and a previously working component is no
longer working.
• A new component (or components) fails
within one to two years of installation.
