DISRUPTIVE STUDENTS

The number of English medium universities is increasing

due to the need for English language skills in today’s global
world. Most of the students attending these universities
have to learn English in preparatory classes before they go
to their departments. Students of prep school have to focus
on their studies and learn as much as they can in class.
However, not all students study or behave properly in class.
Some students exhibit disruptive behavior such as
continuously talking with their classmates during lessons,
arguing with the teacher, walking around the class, or doing
everything but studying. The causes of disruptive behavior
in English preparatory classes are a lack of motivation to
study English and conflict with parents.
TOPIC SENTENCES (Cause Block)

TS para.1: The main cause of disruptive

behavior in preparatory classes is students’
lack of motivation to study English.

TS para.2: The second cause of disruptive

behavior in class is conflict between the
students and their parents.
Transition Sentence & Topic
Sentences (Effect Block)

Transition sentence: Having looked at the two causes

of disruptive behavior in preparatory class, its effects, which
are teachers’ inability to give lessons and students’ failure in
class, may also be examined.
TS para.3: The first effect of disruptive behavior in prep class
is the teacher’s inability to teach effectively in class.

TS para.4: The second effect of disruptive behavior in the

classroom is students’ failure.
CONCLUSION
To sum up, a lack of motivation and disagreements with
parents lead to students’ disruptive behavior in class and
this results in the interruption of lessons and the failure of
students to pass the exams. Most of these students are not
aware of the fact that they can benefit from learning English
and be successful in the future. They do not think about
their future needs, they just think about getting through the
day. When they fail, they usually blame everything or
everyone, but themselves. However, if they just stopped and
thought for a moment, they would realize that all they have
to do is discipline themselves for a certain period of time in
order to achieve success.
