÷ Hack has several meanings in the
technology and computer science
fields: a clever or quick fix to a
computer program problem; a clumsy or
inelegant solution to a problem; or a
modification of a program or device to
give the user access to features that
were otherwise unavailable to them.

EXAMPLE OF WINDOWS HACKING

WE CAN REMOVE THE SHUT DOWN OPTION FROM THE

PC.
RUN ´regedit.exeµ.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\
Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Policies\Explorer
THEN CREAT EDIT->NEW->DWORD
SET DWORD VALUE 1 TO DISABLE SHUT DOWN OPTION
AND 0 TO ENABLE. RESTART THE MACHINE.
÷ Password cracking is the process of recovering
secret passwords from data that has been stored
in or transmitted by a computer system. A
common approach is to repeatedly try guesses for
the password. The purpose of password cracking
might be to help a user recover a forgotten
password (though installing an entirely new
password is less of a security risk, but involves
system administration privileges), to gain
unauthorized access to a system, or as a
preventive measure by system administrators to
check for easily crackable passwords.

÷ If a system uses a cryptographically weak
function to hash or encrypt passwords,
exploiting that weakness can recover even
'well-chosen' passwords
÷ One example is the LM hash that Microsoft
Windows uses by default to store user
passwords that are less than 15 characters in
length. LM hash breaks the password into two
7-character fields which are then hashed
separately, allowing each half to be attacked
separately.
÷ Guessing
÷ Not surprisingly, many users choose weak
passwords, usually one related to themselves
in some way. Repeated research over some 40
years has demonstrated that around 40% of
user-chosen passwords are readily guessable
by programs.
÷ Dictionary attack
÷ A dictionary attack also exploits the tendency of
people to choose weak passwords, and is
related to the previous attack. Password
cracking programs usually come equipped with
"dictionaries", or word lists, with thousands or
even millions of entries of several kinds,
including:
÷ words in various languages

÷ names of people

÷ places

÷ commonly used passwords

÷ Brute force attack
÷ A last resort is to try O O possible password,
known as a brute force attack. In theory, a brute
force attack will always be successful since the
rules for acceptable passwords must be publicly
known, but as the length of the password
increases, so does the number of possible
passwords. This method is unlikely to be
practical unless the password is relatively small
÷ TO CRACK PC PASSWORDS WE CAN USE
FOLLOWING SIMPLE METHOD.
÷ FIRST OPEN THE CPU CABINATE

÷ LOOK FOR THE BLUE JUMPER.

÷ THERE ARE THREE PINS FOR THIS

JUMPER AND JUMPER IS INSERTED IN TO
TWO PIN OUT OF THREE.
÷ REMOVE AND INSERT ITS ADJUCENT TWO
PINS.
÷ NOW RESTRT THE COMPUTER.
÷ YOU WILL GET ANOTHER WINDOW INSTEAD
OF BOOTING PROCESS.
÷ SELECT OPTION ´REMOVE ALL
PASSWORDSµ.
÷ THEN TURN OFF COMPUTER.
÷ PLACE THE JUMPER AGAIN IN ITS ORIGINAL
TWO PINS.
÷ RESTART THE COMPUTER.
