HUMAN ACT
~Considered three elements before actualizing the
act: intention, circumstances, object

ACTS OF HUMAN
~actions that are done without full knowledge.
This means the person may be ignorant of the act.
HUMANITARIAN ACTS

~these are acts organized by groups

in order to help provide assistance to
the poor, hungry and needy
Have you tried flying a kite? It is enjoyable to
fly a kite especially during summer. Seeing
them up in the sky with different shapes
and colors is amazing. But do you know
that flying a kite is not easy? You have to
consider the wind, its direction and
intensity. Otherwise, it may not be able to
get up to the sky. Worse, it may crash or
clash with other kites.

This is the same with human act, there are

factors that can affect them before or
during the action, because we are human
being our actions may be affected by
ignorance, passion, fear, violence or bad
habits.
For example;
 There is a difference between giving answer to a
classmate
- Because you want to give
- Because of fear of being bullied

 There is also a difference between being with friends

- Because of fear of being alone
- Because you desire to be with them

MODIFIERS OF HUMAN ACT
a. Ignorance
Ignorance is the absence of knowledge which a person
ought to possess. Meaning, it is expected of a person
based on her/his field. For example, a doctor must
know about medicine, a lawyer must know the law, or
a sales person must know the products and the prices.
In terms of morality, everyone of reason ought to know
at least the general norm about what is good and evil.
MODIFIERS OF HUMAN ACT
b. Passion
Passion has the tendency toward or away from an object
depending on its desirability. It includes love, delight,
hope, horror, sadness, fear and anger. Passion is
neither good nor bad. It is usually arises in response
to the stimulus. However, because we have Intellect
and Will, we are expected to be in control of our
emotions
MODIFIERS OF HUMAN ACT
c. Fear
Fear is the disturbance of the mind of a person
in the face of possible danger or harm to
himself/herself or love ones. For example,
some people fear to try new experience, or to
go to an abandoned house, to eat unfamiliar
food, to talk to strangers or to walk alone at
night. But doing things out of fear or because
of fear is different.
MODIFIERS OF HUMAN ACT
d. Violence
Violence refers to any physical force applied by
a person to another, thus compelling him/her
to do something against his/her will. A young
man being tortured to admit to a crime is an
example of this. Another example is a woman
who is sold to a prostitution under the threat
of being killed. This is human trafficking.
MODIFIERS OF HUMAN ACT
e. Habit
Habit is a result of a repeated act facilitating the
performance of the same act. Habit enables a
person to perform things with relative ease
and act naturally and some are difficult to
stop such as, vices of smoking, drinking,
adultery/womanizing. Thus, a person remains
accountable. However, when he/she decides to
fight the habit and effort is continuously
rendered, the person may overcome this.
Note: Helping voluntarily must not be based on your
emotions (whether you like it or not), fear, ignorance,
violence and fear. Remember David who fought
Goliath? David was known as the giant-slayer because
he killed an enemy soldier who was so strong and tall.
This feat has inspired many that can overcome great
challenged and difficulties despite their limitations.
