V Allatheena yaqooloona rabbana innana amanna

faighfir lana thunoobana waqina AAathaba alnnari


V "Our Lord! We have indeed believed: forgive us our sins, and save us from
the punishment of the Fire" (Qurǯaan: 3:16)

V îabbana ighfir lana waliikhwanina allatheena


sabaqoona bialeemani wala tajAAal fee quloobina
ghillan lillatheena amanoo rabbana innaka raoofun
raheemun
V "Our Lord! Forgive us, and our brethren who came before us into the Faith,
and put not in our hearts any hatred against those who have believed. Our
Lord! You are indeed full of Kindness, Most Merciful." (Qurǯaan: 59:10)
V ¬aqul rabbi ighfir wairham waanta khayru alrrahimeena
V ëo say: "O my Lord! grant You forgiveness and mercy for You are the Best
of those who
V show mercy!" (Qurǯaan: 23:118)
îabbi aAAoothu bika min hamazati alshshayateeni
¬aaAAoothu bika rabbi an yahdurooni
V nd say "O my Lord! I seek refuge with You from the whisperings
(suggestions) of theëhayatin (devils)
V "nd I seek refuge with You, My Lord! lest they should come nearme."

V AǮuthu bi kalimaatil-laahit-taam-maati min ghadhabihi wa Ǯiqaabihi, wa
sharri Ǯibaadihi. wa min hama-zaatish-shayaateeni wa an yahdhuroon.
V £I seek refuge in the Perfect Words of llah from His anger and His
punishment, from the evil of His slaves and from the taunts of devils and
from their presence£. (bu Dawud, Book 28, Number 3884)
V AǮuthu bi kalimaatil-laahit-taammaati min sharri maa khalaqa.
V "I seek refuge in the Perfect Word of llah from the evil of what He has
created," MMuslim, Book 035, Number 6541)
V ga ilaha illa anta subhanaka innee kuntu mina
alththalimeena
V - here is no god but You: Glorified are You: ruly I have been of the wrongdoers!" (Qurǯaan:
21:87)
V Dhis verse is known as Ayatul Karimah, the Dzglorious versedz. Dhis dua was recited by Prophet
Yunus (pbh) when he found himself in the dark belly of a big fish, who swallowed him alive.
îabbi innee lima anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqeerun
"O My Lord! ruly am I in (desperate) need of any good that You bestow on me!" (Qurǯaan:
28:24)
V Prophet Musa (pbuh) was travelling to the dessert of Madyan and found some men were
watering their animals and two women were standing helpless. Musa (pbuh) helped these
women with water, and then returned to the shade of a tree. At this time, he made this dua.
Allah (S¬D) responded to this dua. As a result, one of these women came to him with an
invitation from her old father. Dhe old man was kind to Musa (pbuh), offered him shelter and
gave one of the two daughters in marriage to Musa (pbuh).

V ¬aAllahu khayru alrraziqeena
V -llah is the Best to provide (for all needs)". (Qurǯaan: 62:11)
V Gnna alfadla biyadi Allahi yuteehi man yashao waAllahu wasiAAun AAaleemun
V "ll bounties are in the hand of llah. He grants them to whom He pleases, nd
llah cares for all, and He knows all things." (Qurǯaan: 3:73)
V Allahumma rabbana anzil AAalayna maidatan mina alssamai takoonu lana
AAeedan liawwalina waakhirina waayatan minka waorzuqna waanta
khayru alrraziqeena
V -O llah our Lord! ëend us from heaven a table set (with viands), that there may
be for us - for the first and the last of us - a solemn festival and a sign from You,
and provide for our
V sustenance, for you are the best ëustainer (of our needs)£. (Qurǯaan: 5:114)

V -Our Lord! Bestow on us patience and set firm our feet and make us
victorious over the disbelieving people£. (Qurǯaan: 2:250)
V ¬hen Dalut (Saul) marched with his soldiers to confront Jalut (Goliath), the
small force of Dalut including Dawud made this dua. Jalutǯs army was larger
than Dalutǯs. But on Dalutǯs side was Allah (S¬D) since Dalut was marching to
establish a kingdom in the name of Allah (S¬D). Gn the war, Dalutǯs forces
fought with the authority of Allah (S¬D), in a response to this dua. Dawud
killed Jalut, and Allah (S¬D) gave Dawud the kingdom and wisdom.

V -O my Lord! Help You me against people who do mischief!£
(Qurǯaan: 29:30)
V ¬ama kana qawlahum illa an qaloo rabbana ighfir
lana thunoobana waisrafana fee amrina wathabbit
aqdamana waonsurna AAala alqawmi alkafireena
V -Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and our transgressions (in keeping
our duties to You), establish our feet firmly, and give and give us
victory against those who deny the truth£.
V (Qurǯaan: 3:147)

V Allaahumma munzilal-kitaabi, sareeǯal-hisaabi ihzimil-ahzaaba,


Allaahumma ihzimhum wa zalzilhum.
V £Oh llah, Revealer of the Book, ëwift to account, defeat the
groups (of disbelievers). Oh
V llah, defeat them and shake them£. (Bukhari, Volume 9,
Book 93, Number 581)
V Subhana allazee khalaqa alazwaja kullaha
mimma tunbitu alardu wamin anfusihim
wamimma la yaAAlamoon (SUîAH-YASG )
V -Glory to llah, Who created in pairs all
things that the earth produces, as well as
their own (human) kind and (other) things of
which they have no knowledge£. (Qurǯaan:
36:36)
V îabbi zidnee ilma
V -My Lord! Increase me in knowledge£. (Qurǯaan: 20:114)

V Dhis dua is taught by Muhammad (SA¬) by Allah (S¬D) Himself. Dhe verse relates to an
instruction not to hasten with Qurǯaan before it is completely revealed. ¬hile revelation of the
Qurǯaan was incomplete, our Prophet (SA¬) was instructed to make this dua. Gn our situation,
when our knowledge is limited about Qurǯaan, we should always make this dua to understand
Qurǯaan more.
V îabbi hab lee hukman waalhiqnee bialssaliheena
V "My Lord! Bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous£. (Qurǯaan: 26:83)

V Prophet Gbrahim (pbuh) made this dua. Gbrahim (pbuh) was making dawah to his father Azar
and his people. Dhe people were disbelievers. Gbrahim (pbuh) while explaining to the people
about the truth and benefits of obeying Allah (S¬D), made this dua. Dhis dua stresses that our
knowledge should guide us to be righteous. ¬e are to be righteous, not blindly, but based on
sound knowledge and wisdom.
V Bismillah, Allahumma jannibna-sh-shaitan,
wa jannibi-sh-shaitan ma razaqtana
V -In the name of llah. O llah! Protect us
from ëatan and also protect what you
bestow

Merciful." (Qurǯaan: 3:31)

V "Our Lord! Bestow on us wives and offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and make us leaders of the
Muttaqun (the righteous)." (Qurǯaan: 25:74)

V -nd (moreover) He has put affection between their hearts: not if you had spent all that is in the earth, could You
have produced that affection, but llah has done it: for He is
V Exalted in might, Wise£ (Qurǯaan: 8:63)

yawma yaqoomu alhisabu
V "O our Lord! Forgive me and my parents, and (all) Believers, on the
Day that the Reckoning will be established!£ (Qurǯaan: 14:41)
V Dhis is a dua made by Prophet Gbrahim (pbuh). He had offered this
dua for protection from Hell-fire. Dhis is an extraordinary dua where
Gbrahim (pbuh) is not only asking for him and his parents, but for all
the believers. Dhis should be an example for us to include other
believers in our duas so that Allah (S¬D) grants His mercy to all
Muslims.
V îabbi irhamhuma kama rabbayanee

V "My Lord! Bestow on them Your Mercy as they did bring me up
when I was young."

V îabbi hab lee mina alssaliheena
V -O my Lord! Grant me (offspring) from the righteous"
V (Qurǯaan: 37:100)
V îabbana waijAAalna (Muslimayni laka wamin thurriyyatina ommatan (Muslimatan
laka waarina manasikana watub AAalayna innaka anta alttawwabu alrraheemu
V "Our Lord! Make of us (Muslims, bowing to Your (Will), and of our offspring a
nation submissive unto You, and show us our Manasik (all the ceremonies of
pilgrimage Ȃ Hajj and Umrah) and accept our repentance. ruly You are the One
Who accepts repentance, the Most Merciful£. (Qurǯaan: 2:128)
V îabbi la tatharnee fardan waanta khayru alwaritheena
V "O My Lord! Leave me not childless, though You are the Best of the inheritors."
V (Qurǯaan: 21:89)
V Allaahummajǯal fee qalbee nooran, wa fee lisaanee
nooran, wajǯal fee samǮee nooran, wajǯal fee basaree
nooran, wajǯal min khalfee nooran, wa min amaamee
nooran,wajǯal min fauqee nooran, wa min tahtee
nooran, Allaahum-ma aǯtinee nooran.
V "Oh llah, place light in my heart, and on my tongue, in my ears, in my
eyes, and shed it at the back of me, in front of me, above me and beneath
me. O llah! Grant me light£.

V "O llah, I seek Your protection from the mischief of my ears, eyes,
tongue, heart and semen" (i.e. sexual passion). Mbu Dawud,
Book 8, Number 1546)

V -Our Lord! pour out on us patience and constancy, and cause us
to die as (Muslims£. (Qurǯaan: 7:126)
V ¬ama lana alla natawakkala AAala Allahi waqad hadana subulana
walanasbiranna AAala ma athaytumoona waAAala Allahi
falyatawakkali almutawakkiloona
V "No reason have we why we should not put our trust on llah.
Indeed He Has guided us to the Ways we (follow). We shall
certainly bear with patience all the hurt you may cause us.
V For those who put their trust should put their trust on llah."
(Qurǯaan: 14:12)
V Allahuma inni auzoobika minaal
hammi, wal huzni,¬a auzobika minal
azizi wal qasali wa auzobika,Minaal
zubni wal bukhli wa auzobika min
galaba,taddayni wa qahrir rizali.
