Desired Outcomes
By the end of this session, we will have become
familiar with:
• School Performance Score (SPS)
• Subject-Test Index Points
• Unit Weights of Assessment Index
• Assessments (Formative and Summative)
• LEAP ELA and Math Format
Did you know?
The School Indicator Weight

Performance Elementary Assessment

Index
90%

Score (SPS) is Attendance 10%

calculated as Middle Assessment 90%

School Index
follows: Attendance 5%
Dropout (7-8) 5%
High School Assessment 70%
Index (9-11)
Graduation 30%
Index (12)
An Example of Calculating the SPS
The SPS for a K-6 school is calculated by
multiplying the index values for each indicator by
the weight given to that indicator and adding the
total scores. These index values are based on
two years of data.
In the example: (87.8 x 90%) + (95.2 x 10%) = 88.5
Indicator Index Value Weight Indicator Score
Assessment Index 87.8 90% 79.0
(Grades 3-8)
Attendance (K-6) 95.2 10% 9.5

SPS =88.5

benchmarks, and GLEs.
What is ?
Enhanced Assessment of Grade-Level Expectations
EAGLE is an online classroom assessment tool designed to help teachers and
students identify student strengths and weaknesses. Teachers can access targeted
classroom resources, and refine instructional strategies based on student
assessment and performance.

• A Tool for Teachers

– Create tests with items aligned to GLEs
– Use the system’s premade tests for pre or post assessment
– Assign tests to entire class or individual students
– Communicate with students using the Message Center
– Learn to score CR items with the Handscoring Tutorial
– View immediate test results for MC and some SA items
– Analyze reports showing class and individual performance
– Access instructional resources aligned to the GLEs

What is ? (cont.)

• A Tool for Students

– Take tests online to measure GLE-based skills
– Receive results immediately for MC and some SA items
– View meaningful reports showing actual performance
compared to goal set by teacher
– Communicate with teacher using the Message Center
– Assess mastery of GLEs using the Student
Self-Assessment Report

• A Tool to Support Formative Assessment

18
Next Steps
• Dig deep into the data to find specific skills
students need help with.
• Use formative assessments (such as EAGLE,
Reading Street, DIBELS, and test prep
materials) to continuously remediate and
reassess student performance.
