Problems with cars
An electric car is an alternative fuel automobile that uses
electric motors and motor controllers for propulsion, in
place of more common propulsion method such as the
internal combustion engine. Electric cars are commonly
powered by on board battery, and as such are battery of
electric vehicle.
History
Electricity is one of the oldest automobile propulsion
methods till in use today. The Hungarian inventor of
the electric motor. This invention is improved by
battery technology including efforts by Gaston Planet
in France in 1865.

Hybrid cars
A simple Dc controller connected to the batteries and DC motor. If the driver floors the acceleration pedal, the controller delivers
the 96 volts from the batteries to the motors. If the driver take his foot off the acceleration, the controller delivers zero volts to the
motor.
In an AC controller, it seems to be complicated but its
process is same as of DC. In AC there is additional need
of reverse polarity of voltage 60 times a sec. So we need
6 sets of transistors, while in DC only one set is
applicable.
Battery problems
You can replace lead-acid batteries with NiMH
batteries. The range of the car will double and the
batteries will last 10 years (thousands of
charge/discharge cycles), but the cost of the batteries
today is 10 to 15 times greater than lead-acid. In other
words, an NiMH battery pack will cost $20,000 to
$30,000 (today) instead of $2,000. Prices for advanced
batteries fall as they become mainstream, so over the
next several years it is likely that NiMH and lithium-
ion battery packs will become competitive with lead-
acid battery prices. Electric cars will have significantly
better range at that point.

batteries, while on the right side EV1 goes to 150 miles at 65
mph using Ni-MH batteries

Hybrid Cars
Hybrid cars are those cars which run as well as fuel or electric
power. It can be changed by a button or switch. In both the case
the power transfer to wheels by the transmission shaft (torque
tube)
Comparison between fuel
car and electric car
Fuel cars depends upon the internal combustion in the
engine.
But the electric car depends upon the batteries power.
But these batteries are very expensive as compare to fuel
engine.
The fuel is easily available in the market.
But the chargeable point for electric car is not in market
 Driving a EC’s 40 miles per day costs $1.12, while a ICE’s
cars costs $4.80.
