Intrapersonal

In order to successfully communicate with others you


must first learn to communicate with yourself.
Intrapersonal communication is the most basic level of
communication. You must understand who you are
what you think of yourself.
Self Talk

• Inner speech that includes the questions and comments


you make to yourself. It is a powerful influence

– Think things through


– Interpret events
– Interpret messages of others
Research has show than positive self talk increases
focus, concentration and performance.

Ifyou believe you cannot do something, your brain will


tell your body and it will shut down.

When you stay encouraged and positive,


your body will also respond in a positive way.
The world tells kids, “You are special if…
you have the brains, the looks, the talent.”

“As I See Myself” is formed largely by our own
perception of what others think of us. This influences our
actions. Our actions in large part determine how others
actually do see us and directly influence their reactions
to us in return. Their actions again, influence the way we
see ourselves. This is a continuous cycle in our lives.

Building Self Esteem

• Associate with people who build.


• Build others, sincere compliments.
• Set and achieve goals.
• Eat correctly, look your best.
• Observe self-confident people.
• Ask for help.
• Improve yourself, learn something new.
• Do not say negative things about yourself.
• Think positively.

• Add things your parents say you do wrong.
• Add things others say you do wrong.
