Neshaminy School Board Revised Board Proposal To the Neshaminy Federation of Teachers

Highlights of Board Offer


Length of proposed agreement covers the three-year period inclusive of the 2011-2012, 2012-2013, and 2013-2014 school years There will be no retroactive pay The Board is offering a 1% across-the-board annual salary increase for the length of this agreement; this translates into roughly an average 3.1% annual increase

Master s Equivalency (MEQ s) will no longer be recognized for salary purposes. An earned Master s degree will be required for salary progression within the Master s or Master s Plus column of the salary schedule Longevity pay has been eliminated for any employee not grandfathered to receive it prior to June 30, 2008

Highlights of Board Offer


The Board is offering three (3) different health care plans with employee premium-contribution rates ranging from 10% to 20%. Each plan provides quality coverage to our employees, and the reduced cost benefits of each plan will offer significant savings to the District

Retirees may purchase health care coverage at the group rate with a 100% employee contribution

Highlights of Board Offer


Opt out compensation for duplicate family coverage (more than one Neshaminy employee under the same plan) no longer exists. A teacher can opt out from coverage if they elect to be covered under another plan belonging to a family member not working in Neshaminy, but the opt out compensation has been reduced from 37% down to 25%

Teachers will now contribute 20% towards the cost of their premium costs for dental, prescription, and vision insurance
Letters of Recommendation and regular maintenance of the Home Access system are now listed as required duties of the certified staff. Also, teachers may be required to attend and participate in up to three (3) evening school functions per year

Teachers will have a shared voice in any committees on which they serve; decisionmaking authority rests with District administrators The normal work day has been increased by 60 minutes to 8 hours; a normal work year will go from 188.5 to 190.5 days of service

Any bargaining unit member arrested for or convicted of any criminal act shall report such arrest or conviction to the Superintendent or his/her designee within seventy two (72) hours after the arrest or conviction At the discretion of the Board or Administration, a background check may be conducted at any time at the expense of the District with respect to any bargaining unit member or members

Drug testing will be required for all job applicants. Existing employees may also be required to submit to drug testing either on a random basis
In the event that if becomes necessary for the District to submit its proposed tax levy or proposed budget to a referendum vote, and the vote on the referendum is negative, the provisions of this Agreement shall immediately terminate

The cost of living (COLA) adjustment has been removed Retirement perks for certified staff with at least ten (10) years of consecutive service have been removed. This includes the onetime $27,500 payout, and free insurance coverage for them and their dependents for health care, life insurance, prescription, dental, and vision care
