The upper floors of the Keep were built by the counts of Feira in the 15th century, after the castle had lost its military importance; they also built the residence to the left of the keep, which is now in ruins, and a chapel outside the walls. In front of the keep is a fountain, with their arms. The open space is the bailey, the main defence of the castle when it was a fighting stronghold.
