WHAT IS FIREWALL?


A firewall is a protective system that lies, in essence, between your computer network and the Internet. When used correctly, a firewall prevents unauthorized people from accessing your network.

 Firewalls

can be either hardware or software. The ideal firewall configuration includes both types.

Some people try to get real work done over the Internet, and others have sensitive or proprietary data they must protect. Usually, a firewall's purpose is to keep the jerks out of your network while still letting you get your job done.
