INTRODUCTION

India is well known for the carpet industry . The carpets manufactured in India are mainly exported. Total export of carpets is worth over Rs.3500crores. Main market for the Indian exporters are U.S.A, Canada ,E.U, U.K., Japan and ASEAN nations.

OBJECTIVE
The objective of this study is to study the problems faced by the traditional handmade carpet industry in India.

RECOMMENDATIONS

 

India should adopt the same kind of liberalised structure as of china Indian govt, should remove importy duty on import of raw material Liberalise export credit on concessional rate of interest Exporters should stress on new design and quality for reataining customers The tariff structure of trade should be lowered down
