WHAT IS ORGANIZATION?
A structured social system consisting of groups and individuals working together to achieve some agreed upon objectives. An Organization may be classified on various attributes eg. Large or Small Public or Private Profit or Nonprofit etc.

ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR
OB is a Multidisciplinary field that seeks knowledge of behavior in organizational settings by systematically and scientifically studying individual, groups and organizational processes. IMPORTANT CHARACTERISTICS: 1. Firmly grounded in scientific method 2. Interdisciplinary 3. Studies individuals, groups and organizations. 4. seeks to improve organizational effectiveness and well being.

SCIENTIFIC METHOD
OB knowledge is based on BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES ( fields such as psychology and sociology) It basically uses empirical,research based approach. Knowledge and practical application closely intertwined .
