PROBLEM: How dos the number of
pests feeding on a plant affect its growth?

HYPOTHESIS: I think that if


there are more pests feeding
of a plant, then there is less
possibility for the plant to
grow healthy.
EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN

MANIPULATED VARIABLE: Number of


pests feeding on a plant

RESPONDING VARIABLE: The


growth of a plant

CONTROLLED VARIABLE: The kind of


pest; factors for a plant’s
growth(sunlight etc.); kind of plant used
MATERIALS NEEDED:
• 2 pots of rose plants
• Grasshoppers(4pests)
• Fertilizer
• 2 gal of water
PROCEDURES:
• Prepare the materials needed.
• Label each plant plant A and plant B.
• Put equal amounts of fertilizer for both plants.
• Water each plant with the same amount of water.
• Place each plant under the sun(same location).
• After a few days, put the pests on the plants with
fewer number on plant A.
• After a week, observe the plant’s condition.
• Record your observation.
