Orientation of English Curriculum

CLASSROOM NORMS
Maintain discipline in the class. Dont speak without taking the permission of the resource person. Raise your hand to get permission to say or share something. Dont interrupt anyone while speaking. Converse in English without hesitation as the medium of communication throughout the session will be English. Be relevant to the topic during discussion. Behave as a learner not as a critic. Mobile phones must be on silent mode.

SESSION OBJECTIVES
After attending this session, the participants will be able to: 1. Identify the difference between Curriculum and Syllabus. 2. Identify the competencies, standards, benchmarks and SLOs given in the national curriculum of English. 3. Tell the competencies of the given SLOs. 4. Recognize different text types. 5. Find a variety of text types in different textbooks.
