Duty ethics is also known as deontological ethics. The word 'deontological' comes from the Greek word deon, which means 'duty'. Duty ethics determines the ethics of an act by looking not to the consequences of the decision but the

Duty ethics are concerned with what people do, not with the consequences of their actions. Do the right thing. Do it because it's the right thing to do. Don't do wrong things. Avoid them because they are wrong.

Emphasises the value of every human being. Duty ethical systems tend to focus on giving equal respect to all human beings.

Deals with intentions and motives.


This provides a basis for human rights - it forces due regard to be given to the interests of a single person even when those are at odds with the interests of a larger group.

ETHICAL CONDUCT

Every employee of a Tata company, including full-time directors and the chief executive, shall exhibit culturally appropriate deportment in the countries they operate in, and deal on behalf of the company with professionalism, honesty and integrity, while conforming to high moral and ethical standards. Such conduct shall be fair and transparent and be perceived to be so by third parties.
