Corporate Social Responsibility

The term Corporate Social Responsibility" came in to common use in the late 1960s and early 1970s Is a form of corporate self-regulation integrated into a business model The goal of CSR is to embrace responsibility for the company's actions and encourage a positive impact through its activities on the environment, consumers, employees, communities An organizations obligation to maximize its positive impact on stakeholders and to minimize its negative impact

To raise the awareness on the importance of sanitation, Tata Motors CSR teams have adopted a three-tiered approached aimed at men, women and children. Lectures, group activities and campaigns are designed for each group to easily adopt the sanitary practices More than 20 villages have archived the total sanitation status and have received the Nirmal Gram Puraskar for the same. Tata Motor, a partner of Smile Train in the noble endeavour of gifting children with beautiful smiles and the potential to lead meaningful lives.

Smile Train works towards spreading awareness about cleft lips, and this organisation works with 400 surgeons and 180 partner hospitals having benefited over 200,000 children in India.

Reducing Pollution

Tata Motors has been at the forefront of the Indian automobile industry's anti-pollution efforts. Tata Motors' joint venture with Cummins Engine Company, USA, in 1992, was a pioneering effort to introduce emission control technology for India. It is the first Indian Company to introduce vehicles with Euro norms well ahead of the mandated dates Tata Motors is constantly working towards developing alternative fuel engine technologies. It has manufactured CNG version of buses and followed it up with a CNG version of its passenger car.
