The foyer in the picture has dramatic Mediterranean style architecture with heavy wood beams in the high ceiling, tall arches along the foyer walkway mirrored by tall arched windows. The lighting is reminiscent of lanterns that lined foyers in ancient Spanish haciendas and grand Italian villas. Dark wood floors and doors are complimentary to the beams in the ceiling and the dark iron in the lighting. To maintian the romantic Mediterranean feel of the architecture, the interior design includes dark wood furniture and dark iron wall art. The dark antiqued arch mirror is complimentary to the architectural arches and windows. The red theme tapestry adds color and the woven texture softens hard surfaces. The green topiaries as well as the woven basket of floral are equally important to color and soft texture. The copper bowls atop the foyer table enhance the red tones in the floor, doors, iron work, wall

The furniture and decorating accessories above would work equally well in the foyer left. The oversized wall art and tall candleholders are ideal for rooms with high ceilings. The arched door buffet has copper inlay doors and the dark wood is perfect for rooms with dark wood floors. The colorful topiaries add softness and the vertical iron wall decor exudes Mediterranean style.

The Casual Mediterranean Dining Room The colors of the Mediterranean countryside are the centerpiece in this Mediterranean style dining room. The walls of this dining room are roughly plastered and wall colors are natural shades of golden sunshine. The design goal is to capture the feel of a country farmhouse. Furniture and decorating accessories are russtic and simple.

Mediterranean decor varies widely and gives you many opportunities to decorate a restaurant in your own style while remaining true to the theme. Traditional Greek- or Roman-inspired statuary is one easy way to indicate a Mediterranean theme in the foyer, setting the visual tone for the rest of the space. Earth tones, like tans and browns, can help indicate the down-to-earth nature of a Mediterranean meal, while pastels and cool colors can create a more upscale seaside atmosphere. Ornate carpets, candles, urns, iron mirrors and heavy wooden furniture can all fit within the Mediterranean style.
