wonder how my Culture differs

influences has made me as

 Myths and misconceptions
stem from ignorance and the
lack of knowledge.
 People are often incapable of
forming independent opinion,
thus relying on the media and
academicians.
 Most misconceptions are
relatively transient and

Stereotypes and
Prejudices
 Africans take advantage of
better living standards in
Europe and/or Finland.
 Exploit the welfare structures
of western Europe and
Scandinavia.
 They don´t work, but claim
social benefits.
 Take away our women,
impregnate our daughters.
 Criminals, rapist and drug
dealers.

 Lazy
The spoon-
chopstick and
banana
metaphor
The spoon is universally used
as an eating device and
cooking utensil.
 Relative to Chinese chop
sticks, usage of the spoon is
widespread and easily
accommodated because of
convenience.
 Banana is peeled by some
people from the butt/ bottom…

minority status, the constant
clash of cultural elements and
encounter with culture shock.

interactions and multiple
human transactions.

 1800 languages spoken on the
continent of Africa.
 Swahili, Hausa, and Yoruba
spoken by millions of Africans
(east and west).
 There are also a variety of sign
languages (manual
communication) found in
Africa.
 Whistled language is common
today in parts of west Africa
with the Yoruba and Ewe
peoples of Nigeria.
