A lay out of nature of questions in respect of Knowledge , Understanding , Application , Marks , Topics, Estimated Difficulty Level etc is called Blue Print of the Question Paper.
* PRACTICABILITY
* OBJECTIVITY * NORM
HOW TO PREPARE A SAMPLE PAPER ? First we plan weightage distributions of marks over different dimensions of the question papers as follows:1. Weightage to learning outcomes.
Sl. No. Objective Marks Percentage 1. Knowledge -----(21) -------(30) 2. Understanding -----(28) -------(40) 3. Application -----(14) -------(20) 4. Skill (Reasoning, evaluation of Info.) -----(07) -------(10)
Allocation of marks / percentage will depend upon the Subject, only an example has been cited.
Total
70

3. Weightage to form of questions :Sl.No. Form of Question Marks for each questions No. of questions Total Marks
1 2 3 4.
Long Answer Type LA 5 Short Answer Type SA- I I Short Answer Type SA- I Very short answer(VSA)
3 2 1
3 12 7 5
15 36 15 5

4. Weightage to expected time for each question Sl.No. 1 2 3 4. Form of Question Long Answer Type LA Short Answer Type SA- I I Short Answer Type SA- I Very short answer(VSA) Expected Time for each question 12 minutes 8 minutes 4 minutes 2 minutes On average 2 min. per mark
Total time is calculated on the basis of the number of questions required to be answered and the lengths of their anticipated answers.
5. Scheme of options There will be no over all option or Internal choices (either / Or type) on a very selective basis 6. Weightage to numericals. 7. Weightage to HOTS. 8. Weightage to reasoning type to justifying type to analyzing type to processing type to evaluating information type 9. Weightage to difficulty Level of questions:Sl No. 1 2 3 Estimated Difficulty Level Easy Average Difficult Percentage 15 70 15
A question may vary in difficulty level from individual to individual as such, the approximation in respect of each question will be made by the paper setter on the basis of general expectation from the group as a whole.
After looking into the weightages to be given , we make a Table for the Blue Print as shown
A MODEL OF BLUE PRINT SUBJECT--------------------TIME:-------- 3HOURS CLASS------------------------MAX. MARKS:---------(70) *Objective also depends upon the subject. For example-one five marks question on skill comes in geography.

A blue print will be said to be perfect / standard if it gives proper weightages to learning outcomes Objectives:1. Knowledge 2. Understanding 3. Applications 4. Skill Weightage changes with the objectives of Curriculum / Subjects / Topic Earlier trend was OBJECTIVE PERCENTAGE Knowledge 30% Understanding 50% Application 20% Latest trend from 2008 onwards is :OBJECTIVE PERCENTAGE Knowledge 30% Understanding 40% Application 20% Skill ,reasoning etc 10% *20% of Questions are to be HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skill) Type questions in the added objective
