Offred is a handmaid who attempts to cross the Canadian border. The failure of her family escape leaves her uncertain as to the safety and nature of her family members. She becomes the mistress of the commander. She also becomes the lover of Nick. Nick Is the trusted, over-confident chauffeur for the commander, who falls for Offred. Ofglen serves as the daily shopping companion to Offred. Handmaids are servants to the commander and his wife. Commander An old, former market researcher whos mild-mannered, but cynical and greedy, he rules over his wife (Serena joy) and the Handmaids. After he gets to know Offred, he treats her like an intelligent child and takes pride in her skill a t scrabble. Guardians a group of young men who keep an eye on the Handmaids when their out on their daily shopping tips and guard the house.
