INTRODUCTION: Cloud computing, a new kind of computing model. It is an extend of changing with the need, that is to say the manufacturer provide relevant hardware software and service according to the need that users put forward. provide secure, quick convenient data storage and net computing service centered by internet.

ClOUD: It is not an invention, but more of a practical innovation, combining several earlier inventions into something new and compelling.

Cloud computing:- Cloud Computing is a popular

phrase that is shorthand for, applications that were developed to be rich Internet applications, that run on the Internet (or Cloud).

ITS PRINCIPLE: Users can buy the computing resource through internet according to their own needs. VIRTUALISATION DYNAMISM ABSTRACTION AUTOMATION RESOURCE SHARING

The Anatomy of the Cloud

Virtualization is abstracting the hardware to run virtual instances of multiple guest operating systems on a single host operating system. You can see Virtualization in action by installing Microsoft Virtual PC, VMware Player or Sun VirtualBox. These are desktop virtualization solutions that let you install and run an OS within the host OS. The virtualized guest OS images are called Virtual Machines. The benefit of virtualization is realized more on the servers than on the desktops.

Virtualization on the Server:In fact, in the server virtualization scenario, the host OS is not very significant. It is just confined to booting up and running the VMs. Given the fact that the OS is not ideal for running multiple VMs and has a little role to play, there is a new breed of software called Hypervisor that takes over the OS. Hypervisor is an efficient Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) that is designed from the ground up to run multiple high performant VMs. So, a Hypervisor is to VMs what an OS is to processes.

VIRTUAL MACHINE:This is the layer that you will directly interact with. In Platform as a Service (PaaS), you may not realize that you are dealing with a VM but in reality most of the Cloud implementations will host your code or app on a VM. VMs are essential to respect the 4 tenets of the Cloud. Your application runs on a VM that is managed by the Hypervisor running across all the servers. These VMs are moved across servers based on the server utilization. There is no guarantee that the VM that you launch will run on the same physical server.

AMAZON WEB SERVICE

SIMPLE STORAGE SERVICE

Amazons Simple Storage Service or S3 is a great way to store data on the Cloud that can be accessed by any application with access to the Internet. S3 can store any arbitrary data as objects accompanied by metadata. These objects can be organized into buckets. Every bucket and object has a set of permissions defined in the Access Control List (ACL). The objects stored in S3 can be anything from a document, a media file, serialized objects or even Virtual Machine images.

EC2
In simple terms, EC2 is hiring a server running at a remote location. These servers are actually Virtual Machine images running on top of Amazons powerful data centers. Amazon calls these virtualized server instances as Amazon Machine Images or AMI.

CLOUD COMPUTING:-

STYLE: SAAS(Software as a service) This is the Top most layer of the cloud computing stack directly consumed by end user i.e. SaaS (Software as a Service). On-Premise applications are quite expensive, affordable only to big enterprises. Why? Now, they can afford best software solution for their business without investing anything at all on the infrastructure or development platform or skilled manpower. The only requirement for SaaS is a computer with browser, quite basic. SaaS is a recurring subscription based model delivered to customer on demand Pay as you use.

PAAS
Now you dont need to invest millions of $$$ to get that development foundation ready for your developers. The PaaS provider will deliver the platform on the web, and in most of the cases you can consume the platform using your browser, i.e. no need to download any software. It has definitely empowered small & mid-size companies or even an individual developer to launch their own SaaS leveraging the power of these platform providers, without any initial investment. Design, development, testing, deployment and hosting

IAAS: This is the base layer of the cloud stack. It serves as a foundation for the other two layers, for their execution. The keyword behind this stack is Virtualization. Let us try to understand this using Amazon EC2. In Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) your application will be executed on a virtual computer (instance). You have the choice of virtual computer, where you can select a configuration of CPU, memory & storage that is optimal for your application. The whole cloud infrastructure viz. servers, routers, hardware based load-balancing, firewalls, storage & other network equipments are provided by the IaaS provider. The customer buy these resources as a service on a need basis.

ITS CHARACTERISTICS: Self-healing Scalable

Governed by a Service Level Agreement

Multipurpose

ADVANTAGES:

Reduced Cost: More Storage: Automatically Updated : No Downloads Shared Resources

DISADVANTAGES: Its not secure Its not platform agnostic Reliability is still an issue Portability isnt seamless Its not environmentally sustainable

Cloud computing future:- industry trends:

1.Cloud computing is widening, but focus on an open platform mainly.

2. Windows Azure is mostly a better platform of Exchange.

Google would increase the area of investment in theenterprise, more business users will use Google Apps.

4. The first batch of SaaS 1.0 companies will face the risk of bankruptcy.

5. The number of firms who abandon the use of its own server increased significantly.

6. Private cloud computing services have been popular.

8. SAP or Oracle will enter PaaS (Platform as a Service, PaaS, Platform as a service) area. 7. Business Intelligence (BI) will be SaaS's next target.

10. Force.com the creation of software products worth at least 1 billion dollars 9. Enterprise adoption and use of social networks faster.

Cloud Computing security:-

Wheres the data? Who has access? What are your regulatory requirements? Do you have the right to audit? What type of training does the provider offer their employees?

What type of data classification system does the provider use?

What are the service level agreement (SLA) terms?

PUBLIC CLOUD
Offer the full range of benefits and features that come with cloud computing: agility, flexibility, elasticity, and ondemand abilities. They are run off-site by third parties, and the cost savings are hard to beat. As long as you have Internet access and a compatible device the cloud can be accessed from anywhere. Simply the purchase the resources you need (hard drive space, processing power) and switch them off when you no longer have use for them. No contract, no commitment, and no fuss.

PRIVATE CLOUD
Run on private networks and as such offer customers a range of enhanced features including increased data security and improved manageability. A private cloud is owned by a single customer who is in control of when and where applications run, and who uses the infrastructure. They own the server and build and maintain the network.

HYBRID CLOUD
There are scenarios where you need a combination of Private Cloud and Public Cloud. Due to the regulations and compliance issues in few countries, sensitive data like citizen information, patient medical history, and financial transactionscannot be stored in servers that physically not located within the political boundaries of a country. In some scenarios, the enterprise customers want to get best of the both worlds by logically connecting their Private Cloud and the Public Cloud. Through this, they can offer seamless scalability by moving some of the onpremise and Private Cloud based applications to the Public Cloud.

First move on cloud:1. Amazon Specializes in IaaS. It offers through Amazon Web Services (AWS): Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud(EC2), Amazon SimpleDB, Amazon CloudFront, Amazon SQS. It claims to have 82 billion objects stored in Amzon S3 (Simple Storage Service)! 2. Google. Specializes in PaaS & SaaS. As SaaS it offers Google Apps: a web-based communication, collaboration & security apps which includes, Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Talk, Google Docs & Google Sites

3. VMware It offers vCloud: Run, secure and manage applications in the private cloud or have them federated on-demand to partnerhosted public clouds. vCloud is giving a tough competition to more established Amazons AWS. 4. Rackspace The company specializes in IaaS. It offers Rackspace Cloud, cloud services are: Cloud Sites, Cloud Servers, Cloud Files. 5. Salesforce.com Leader in SaaS. Offers Salesforce CRM (Sales Cloud 2, Service Cloud 2) & Force.com Platform (Custom Cloud 2, Development Platform).
