SCOPE OF STUDY

The study analyzes the financial performance of two merging financial institutions during the transition of merging and acquisition. This study will help to understand the potential change in financial performance after increase in equity, whether turned into profitability or loss due to non performing assets.

The banking industry has experienced an unprecedented level of consolidation on a belief that gains can accrue through expense reduction, increased market power, reduced earnings volatility, and scale and scope economies. Banking industry has been going through major changes after global financial crises due to increase in inflation and low savings by depositors, so its becoming difficult for banker to continue their daily operation at lower cost.

STUDY OBJECTIVES
1.Effect of vertical merging in banking sector. Case study of NIB & PICIC

2.To detect the pattern of a feasible merger by analyzing the position of the banks through project and equity determinations

HYPOTHESES
1.The effect of merger increases equity that as a result increases profitability of commercial banks.. 2. The increase in equity can turn into non performing assets.
