KAIZEN IDEA (any low-cost and common-sense solution) This allows you to be empowered by identifying and

eliminating muda (waste or non-value-added things) in any process, system, practice or policy.

Quota is 2 ideas per meeting, 10 by midterm exam day and another 10 by final exam day.

Students Name:

Jaime Arriola

Date: (dont miss this)

Grade:

3. Implementation Plan: Describe the solution in
Each student must have submitted a minimum of 20 ideas per term. clear and specific terms.

1. Description of Problem: What kind of muda

(waste), mura (imbalance), or muri (stressful condition) are you trying to solve? ______________________

Muda of Inventory - Extra storage space required

By putting a flat edge at the bottom of the plate so it can stand / dry on its own.

2. Problem Analysis: Quantify the adverse effects

when it is not fully solved or controlled.

4. Expected Result: Explain fully.

Having a rack can be spacious even especially if you are living alone or in a small condo unit. What if you only have 4 plates or even 2 just for yourself.

By having flat edge on the bottom of the plate no need to buy a rack. Just stand the plate and let it dry on its own. It will save you so much space.

Lower the Stall doors

4. Expected Result: Explain fully.

in this situation the washroom doors are a little too high for no privacy and the person can not concentrate on what they are doing especially for the women.

By doing this more people will Use the washroom stalls.

Muda of over processing Advising the upper management to take calls when there is a high call volume

The account should acquire a PA system. The RTAs will instead inform the managers to login using the PA system.

2. Problem Analysis: Quantify the adverse effects

when it is not fully solved or controlled.

4. Expected Result: Explain fully.

When an account is experiencing a high call volume real time analysts are mandated to inform the management to log-in and take calls. This is done by calling the extension phones of each managers/sups/TLs or by going to their stations one by one. This process takes a while and sometimes causes the service level to fail.

The RTAs will be able to save the accounts service level for that particular interval because everyone can login at the same time and take all calls on queue.

Muda of Over processing in the work force

Adapt a real time monitoring tool like IDX. Through this tool, the RTAs will not have a hard time converting files into readable ones. RTAs will also create reports real time.

2. Problem Analysis: Quantify the adverse effects

when it is not fully solved or controlled.

4. Expected Result: Explain fully.

In monitoring the Bell Companys service level, real time analysts have to manually retrieve records from an old monitoring tool. It takes a long time for RTAs to create reports and be able to disseminate them to the upper management.

The real time analysts will be able to assess the accounts SL standing real time and be able to report to the upper management the current standing of the account.

Muda of over processing in the lrc extention with the use of the printers.
2. Problem Analysis: Quantify the adverse effects

Centralized Printer near the Help Desk.

4. Expected Result: Explain fully.

The problem here is that there are 8 computers In the LRC extention area there is 1 printer for Every computer. So that would be 8 ink cartridges and 8 plugs in the electrical socket.

By using a centralized printer For all 8 computers it will save A lot in the ink and the electricity When ever the student prints It will go to the main printer and it will Show what computer it came from.

One Big sign which can be laminated on the columns which are blank
4. Expected Result: Explain fully.

While I was researching on my thesis I noticed that every single table in The LRC has a observing the silence Signage. Not only that they are wasting Paper and the plastic holders but its annoying Being reminded every where you look.

Less paper, less plastic holders and less stress for students that hate to be reminded or hate seeing signs while everyone knows to be quiet in the library.
