EC303.29 1
OBJECTIVES

On completion of this period, you would be able to

• Define and compute the driving point

impedance and transfer impedance of a network.

EC303.29 2
DRIVING POINT IMPEDANCE:

Definition: Driving point impedance of the network

(or input impedance) is defined as the ratio
of input driving voltage of the network to
the input current driven by the same voltage
source of the network.

For a three mesh network with mesh currents I1,I2,I3
and voltage sources V1,V2,V3 , then the mesh equations
In matrix form can be written as

TRANSFER IMPEDANCE:
Definition: Transfer impedance between mesh1 to mesh2 in
a network is defined as the ratio of driving voltage V1
in mesh1 to the resulting current I2 in mesh2 .
