RAGGING
"RAGGING" means display of noisy, disorderly conduct doing any act which causes or is likely to cause: Physical or psychological harm , Raise apprehension or fear or shame or embarrassment to a student

in any educational institution

It includes: a) Teasing, abusing of playing practical jokes on, or causing hurt to such

student or
b) Asking the students to do any act or perform something which such student will not in the ordinary course willingly do.

MEANING OF RAGGING
BY SUPREME COURT
"Ragging is any disorderly conduct, whether by words spoken or
written, or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any student, indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities which cause or are likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior

student and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame
or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the psyche of a fresher or a junior student."

IMPORTANT
There are Thirteen provisions of the IPC (Indian Penal Code) which can be used

by a fresher who is being ragged to register

an FIR (First Information Report) in the

police station under whose jurisdiction-area

the crime has taken place.

The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Received The Assent Of The Governor On The 14th

February 1997 And Is Hereby

Published For General Information. The Govt. of TN was 1st state Govt. to pass an act against ragging in India.

I am fully aware of the fact that ragging in any form is punishable crime, and strictly prohibited inside or outside college campus. I also understand that it loads to expulsion from the college, action by the police, punishment from the judiciary. The punishment includes upto Rs 100000 as fine & 2 years of rigorous imprisonment or both and I can never join another educational institution in case of expulsion due to ragging. So hereby, I swan that Ill not indulge in any form of ragging or support any ragging incident, by being a silent viewer, I will rather immediately inform this to the authorities concerned committee of PARKS COLLEGE.
