Load Analysis
First the aggregate connected load is calculated The Probable Peak Load can then be calculated The Operating load for an application is calculated by applying a Load Factor to the Connected Load Load Factor for each application represents the percentage of maximum possible load that could be placed on the generator in a 24-hour period 24Rare loads such as, fire pumps, emergency bilge pumps, and search lights receive a load factor of zero

Electrical Load List Analysis

Hotel Accommodations are designed to supply power to 20 men aboard the FPSO Load factors for all of the applications were determined using SNAME approved load factors available from the U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Center

Main Generators
Determining Peak Load from load list Select Main Generators Power generating plants have at least two sets of service generators One in operation the other on stand-by. standGenerator must be rated to carry at least 125 % of Total peak load. -Safety Factor -account for the occasional high load from equipment -provides room for additional loads that may be added later Two Gas Turbine engines are used -Natural Gas readily available from oil production -Light weight and compact design -Extra space for production equipment and oil storage

G.E. LM2500PE Generator set Design Specifications

Out Put LM2500PV 30240 Kw Heat Rate 9071 kJ/kWhr Exhaust Flow 84.3 kJ/s Exhaust Temp 499 C Frequency 60 Hz

Main Generator Load Analysis

Total Peak Load 22488.075 Kw Load Capacity of Generator Percentage of Peak Load 30240 Kw 135%

Two G.E. Lm2500PE generator sets will be installed on this FPSO -one in operation, the other on stand by Generator set is rated to carry 135% of Total Peak load 10 percent more than what is necessary

Auxiliary Power Generation

In the case of main power generation failure Auxiliary generators will be able to supply auxiliary and hotel power Do not supply power to process equipment Auxiliary Power is developed through diesel generators Essential that diesel Aux. generators be designed to provide power for 18 hours Power generating plants have at least two sets of Aux. generators One in operation the other on stand-by when there is a main standpower failure Aux. Generator Must be rated to carry at least 125 % of Total peak Aux. load. -Safety Factor -account for the occasional high load from equipment -provides room for additional loads that may be added later

Auxiliary Caterpillar 3508B Marine Diesel Generator Set Design Specifications

Power Out Caterpillar 3508B 715 KW Speed 1800 rpm Fuel Consumption 49.3 gal/hr Frequency 60Hz

Auxiliary Power Load analysis

Total Peak Aux. Load 485.075 kW Load Capacity of Generator 715 kW Percentage of peak load Required Fuel Tank Size 147% 900 gal

Two caterpillar 3508B marine diesel generator sets will be installed on this FPSO. One set capable of handling all auxiliary loads and the other on stand-by standIf main power generation system fails, 887.4 gallons of fuel are required to run one generator at full load for 18 hours Fuel tank of 900 gallons is recommended The generator is rated to carry 147% of peak auxiliary load. -22% more than what is necessary

Emergency Power Generation

Designed to automatically receive a load if the FPSO loses service power Critical for the safety of the crew Supply the power necessary for getting the service generators back into operation Provide a source of power that is completely independent of any other equipment on the FPSO Self contained cooling and ventilation system Quick starting diesel generator is usually used for emergency power generation

Emergency Power Generation ABS Standards

Following are the minimum loads that must be powered by the emergency power source for 18 hours
Fire detection Gas Detection Communication Paging and Alarm Emergency Lighting Navigation aids 1 Fire pump at full load

Caterpillar 3506 Marine Diesel Emergency Generator Design Specifications

Power Out Caterpillar 3506 99 KW Speed 1800 rpm Fuel Consumption 7.4 gal/hr Frequency 60Hz

Emergency Power Load Analysis

Total Peak Aux. Load Capacity of % of Peak Emergency Required Fuel Load Generator Load Tank Size 64.26 kW 99 kW 154% 140 gal

One Caterpillar 3506 Marine Diesel Emergency will be

installed on this FPSO If main power fails the generator requires 133 gallons of fuel to run for 18 hours A fuel tank capable of holding 140 gallons is recommended

rated to carry 154 percent of peak emergency load This is 29 percent more than what is necessary

Conclusion
Two main G.E. Lm2500PE the generator sets - 30240 kW each Two Auxiliary caterpillar 3508B marine diesel generator sets - 715 kW each One emergency Caterpillar 3506 Marine Diesel Generator set - 99 kW.
