Purpose of this presentation

• In order to use the math


presentations, students must be
familiar with the Port of Long Beach
• This presentation will provide some
background information necessary
for understanding the problems
presented in the math lessons

The piers and berths at the Port of
Long Beach are divided into four
categories.
1. Containerized cargo
2. Dry bulk cargo
3. Liquid bulk cargo
4. Break bulk cargo

We’ll learn a little bit about each.

measured in TEUs.
• 1 TEU is one twenty-foot
equivalent unit.
