The Exam
TOPIC: TV Crime Drama Over the next few months, you will be taught everything you need to know so dont panic! A formal exam 1 hour and 30 minutes long

The Exam
A brief is released six weeks before your exam. No formal teaching will take place, but you can independently work on the pre-release material during this time. It is important that you must respond to the task in role

The Questions
Tasks 1 and 2 Tasks 3 and 4 This will test your knowledge and research of existing texts, with particular reference to the audience. You will be asked to write a pitch/proposal for your new idea (TV crime drama) including details of the institution, the characters, format, etc. You may be asked to go into more detail about the narrative or characters for example. You will be asked to carry out a production task (storyboard for a new title sequence for example). You will also be asked to evaluate your work (in role).

The Questions Which AO?


1. Give us three reasons why TV crime dramas are not popular with teenagers. Dont forget to provide examples to support your points. 2. Now provide us with your suggestions for the following: A description of the type of person you would use for the protagonist An outline of a the narrative for one episode Scheduling details what day and what time and why? 3. If we go ahead with your proposals, it will be important that we carefully market your ideas. Using the production sheets provided, complete one of the design tasks to help launch the first episode. Either i) An A4 magazine article Or ii) Storyboard a 30 second TV trailer 4. We need to be confident that these ideas are going to be successful. Tell us why your proposal will be popular with the intended target audience.
