WHY STUDY RIZAL S LIFE


 Mandated by RA 1425 authored by CM Recto and signed by Pres. R. Magsaysay (12 June 1955)  Rizal was a national icon even during the American Period, when the flag law was still being enforced

CALAMBA 1887-1888
 Rizal cured his mother s eyes and became known as Dr. Uliman  He was attacked by Fr. Rodriguez due to the Noli s content. He was defended by Fr. Garcia and MH Del Pilar  Gov. Gen. Terrero advised him to leave

HONG KONG, MACAO, JAPAN, and USA


 Hong Kong and Macao Rizal traveled with Jose Maria Basa, was followed by a spy named Jose Sainz de Varranda  Japan romantic encounter with Seiko Usui (O Sei San)  USA travelled by train with Suehiro Tetcho, noticed discrimination against other races

 British Library he copied Antonio Morga s Sucesos de los Islas Filipinas  Romantic encounter with Gertrude Beckett

MANILA to DAPITAN 1892-1896


 July 3 1892- Birth of La Liga  July 7 Death of La Liga, Rizal was sent to Dapitan, Birth of KKK  Dapitan Rizal practiced medicine, turned down the ideas of the Katipunan, fell in love with Josephine Bracken and had a son named Francisco who died hours later, discovered 3 animals and had them named after him  1896 he volunteered as a doctor in Cuba

 Rizal was arrested on his way to Spain  He was imprisoned in Fuerza Santiago, incommunicado, with Lt .Luis Taviel de Andrade as lawyer  Accused of treason and rebellion  Wrote the Ultimo Adios  Was shot on December 30, 1896, 7:03 AM, in Bagumbayan (Luneta)
