Principles and general objectives of Education


Provide a broad general education that will assist each individual in society to attain his/her potential as a human being. Help the individual participate in the basic functions of society and acquire the essential educational foundation for his/her development into a productive and versatile citizen. Train the nations manpower in the middle-level skills required for national development.

THE GOAL OF BASIC/ SECONDARY EDUCATION:


Covering the areas of broad general education. Training in middle level skills, developing for improving the quality of human life. Responding to the changing needs and conditions of the nationality.

Secondary education (high school) continuation of the basic education provided at the first level. It is expanded to include learning (general education) and training in basic employable skills (vocational or technical education).

New Secondary Education Curriculum was implemented in 1992/93. The major subject areas are science, mathematics, technology, Filipino, English, and civics/national culture. Technical and vocational education was also revised and adapted to technological progress and employment needs in recent years.

Assessing learning achievement nationwide

National Educational Testing and Research Centre (NETRC) assumes the lead role in the field of educational measurement, evaluation and research as a means of providing information necessary to improve the state of the education system

During the beginning of 2001, BSE had active projects and a flagship 6-year program (SEDIP)
Adopt-a-school Balik-Paaralan sa (Out-of-School Adults (BPOSA, Back-to-School for Out-of-School Adults) Government Assistance to Student and Teachers in Private Education (GASTPE) Project Effective and Affordable Secondary Education (EASE) was a project that targeted students in disadvantaged situations who were unable to attend regular sessions
