Conditional sentences type 2

Are used to express hypothetical situations in the present ( a possible condition) Eg. I would go with you if I had time. ( A merge cu tine dac a avea timp). John would sing a song if he had a guitar. ( John ar cnta un cntec dac ar avea o chitar.)

In the main clause, you should use a Present Conditional ( subject+would/could+short infinitive) Eg. Mary would buy a new dress if she had enough money. They could go to Spain if the weather were fine. You would study Japanese if your parents allowed you to.

In the Conditional sentence, you should use the Past form of the verb ( 2nd form for irregular verbs, vb1+ED for regular verbs) Eg. I would tell you the truth if I trusted you. Sarah would finish her homework if you left her alone. We would get higher marks if we studied more. He would know much more if he kept quiet.

The verb TO BE in the conditional sentence

When it is used in the conditional sentence, the verb TO BE is represented only by one form: WERE. Eg. If I were you, I would think twice about it. If you were here, you would do something about it.
