Frederick Douglass He was born in February 1818 He died in 1895 due to a massive heart attack He escaped slavery and married Anna MurrayDouglass He is a strong abolitionist and is a feminist

Stephen King Born in Maine in 1947 Raised by his mother in Indiana, but mostly lived in Maine After college, he was a teacher before he could write full time He moved a lot as an adult, but he lives most of his life in Maine

Childhood
Frederick Douglass He was taught the alphabet by the wife of his owner After that he taught himself to read and write The Columbian Orator helped define his views on human rights Stephen King He watched his friend get hit by a train This may have psychologically inspired him to write horror stories He also wrote a lot in school

Adulthood
Frederick Douglass William Lloyd Garrison inspired him He joined many abolitionist meetings and clubs After he gave his first speech he was encouraged to be an anti-slavery lecturer Stephen King In 1999 King got hit by a car His pain almost caused him to retire He didnt retire, but the event did slow down his writing

Stephen King Critics have given him mostly positive reviews One of the few exceptions is S.T. Joshi, he doesnt find Kings characters to be believable

Frederick Douglass Douglass only wrote about himself in his published books He was never influenced by other authors because he didnt get to read as much as a child Stephen King Richard Matheson influenced him most as a writer King doesnt claim to be influenced by any other writers, but he is a fan of John D. MacDonald
