TYPES OF INTERVIEW

ONE-TO-ONE INTERVIEW

Most common type of Interview

In the One-to-one interview the candidate for employment meets directly with the interviewer

GROUP INTERVIEW

Is designed to uncover the leadership potential of prospective managers and employees Candidates are gathered in an informal discussion type interview Goals

PANEL/COMMITTEE INTERVIEW

There is more than one interviewer Three to ten members in a panel

Chance to put your group management and group presentation skills

TELEPHONE INTERVIEW

Used as a preliminary interview for candidates who live far away from the job site No face-to-face communication Should arrange at a quiet place and time should be fixed for conversation

Candidates should focus on the conversation, Listen to the questions carefully before answer Since voice of candidates is key, he should convey energy with inflection in his voice Have a copy of your resume nearby as a reference

LUNCH/DINNER INTERVIEW

The setting may be more casual, but remember that it is a business meal and you are being watched carefully Use the interview to develop common ground with your interviewer. Follow his/her lead in both selection of food and etiquette Avoid messy foods and do not drink alcohol at any point in this part of the interview process

THE SCREENING INTERVIEW

Companies use screening tools to ensure that candidates meet minimum qualification requirements Computer programs are among the tools used to weed out unqualified candidates

BEHAVIORAL INTERVIEW

Candidates are asked to explain their skills, experience, activities, hobbies, school projects, family life - anything really - as examples of your past behavior

The purpose of this type of interview is to predict future based on past experiences/behaviour

This interview shows the candidates willingness in learning, willingness to travel, self-confidence and Creativity Listen each question carefully, and give an example that provides an appropriate description of how you demonstrated the desired behavior

THE STRESS INTERVIEW

You might be held in the waiting room for an hour before the interviewer greets you You might face long silences or cold stares The interviewer might openly challenge your believes or judgment

You might be called upon to perform an impossible task on the fly - like convincing the interviewer to exchange shoes with you Insults and miscommunication are common All this is designed to see whether you have the mettle to withstand the company culture, the clients or other potential stress
