Key Ideas
Classicism
Greek mythology films were most common in Hollywood between the late 50s and 80s. 1963s Jason and the Argonauts and the original Clash were so earnestly swordand-sandal, audiences could not help but be charmed. Jason quests for the Golden Fleece and fights everything from harpies to the Hydra. In Clash of the Titans, Perseus manhandles witches and slaughters Medusa. (Honeycutt 2011) Hollywood has rediscovered ancient Greek mythology with its gods and monsters, muscular men with shields and swords and the hero's quest to save humanity in the 2010 version of "Clash of the Titans: (Silverman 2010)

Realism
Typical Hollywood. The Greek myths might be bizarre, exciting, violent and dramatic, but that didn't stop the creators of the highly enjoyable Clash of the Titans film making their plotline even more extravagant than the source material. And that goes for both the ancient Greek myths and the original 1981 movie. (Higgins 2010)

Culture Context
Clash of the titans (1981/2010) are both loosely based on Greek mythology. Greek Myth characters and how Hollywood portrays them. The films (81/10) also change the story of what happens in Perseus life, this seems to be down to the fact that the correct story of him is a bit boring and needed to be spiced up in order to keep the audience interested.

Conclusion
After many films what have been based around Greek myth from the 50s right up till now have slowly drifted away from the correct myth to changing the story to be more entertaining or an excuse just to use special effects more. The characters within the films have changed in Hollywood movies to be more appealing to the audience.
