Simple Present
Algunas de las expresiones de tiempo que se utilizan con el

presente simple son:

Once a day/ week/ month/ year

Twice a day/ week month/ year
Three times a day/ week/ month/ year
Every day/ week/ month/ year
Every morning/ afternoon/ evening/ night
Every Monday/ Tuesday
Once in a while

Las expresiones de tiempo se suelen colocar al

final de la frase: We go to the dentist twice a year.

THE PRESENT SIMPLE IN AFFIRMATIVE

SENTENCES
Slo hay dos formas bsicas para el presente simple; una termina

en s y la otra no.

La estructura de una frase afirmativa en presente simple sera la

siguiente:

Sujeto + verbo en presente + complementos

- We read a newspaper every day.
- He lives in Madrid.
- Birds fly.

Slo la TERCERA PERSONA DEL SINGULAR (he, she and it)

lleva -S.

 Con la mayora de los verbos, la tercera persona del singular se

forma simplemente aadiendo una -S. Sin embargo, con algunos

verbos, hay que aadir -ES o cambiar la terminacin del verbo.
Estas son las reglas a seguir:

Verbo terminado en 3 persona

-ss Aadir es
-x
Aadir es
-ch Aadir es
-sh Aadir es
-o
Aadir es

Consonante + y Cambiar la y por i y aadir es

THE PRESENT SIMPLE IN NEGATIVE SENTENCES

Las oraciones negativas en presente simple se
forman aadiendo el auxiliar do/does en forma
negativa delante del verbo.
Sujeto + do/does + not + raiz del verbo +complementos

- I do not/ dont play chess.

- He does not/ doesnt speak French.

THE PRESENT SIMPLE IN YES/NO QUESTIONS

Las oraciones interrogativas tambin se forman usando el

auxiliar do/does dependiendo del sujeto. La estructura de

estas preguntas es:

Auxiliar + sujeto + raiz del verbo +complementos?

Estas preguntas pueden contestarse con una
respuesta breve o larga.

Do you like pizza? Yes, I do / Yes, I do. I like

pizza.
Does he wear jeans? No, he doesnt / No, he
doesnt. He doesnt wear jeans.

THE PRESENT SIMPLE IN WH-QUESTIONS

Estas preguntas se usan cuando queremos obtener

algn tipo de informacin. Tienen la siguiente

estructura:
Wh-word + do/does + sujeto + raiz del verbo +
complementos
