The Quran is the religious text of Islam and is widely regarded as the finest piece of literature in the Arabic language. The Quran is the verbal divine guidance and moral direction for mankind and the final revelation of God! The final Testament!

The Qur'an comprehends the complete code for the Muslims to live a good, chaste, abundant and rewarding life in obedience to the commandments of Allah, in this life and to gain salvation in the next. It is the "chart of life" for every Muslim, and it is the "constitution" of the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth.

The Qur'an is the eternal contemporary of the Muslims. Each generation of Muslims has found new sources of strength, courage and inspiration in it. It is Qur'an which transformed the simple shepherds and wandering Bedouins of Arabia into the founders of empires, the builders of cities, the collectors of libraries.

The first thing to understand about the Quran is its form.

The Arabic word, Quran, literally means both recitation and reading. Similarly, the Quran was both recited orally and written down in book form.
The true power of the Quran remains in the oral recitation, as it is meant to be read aloud and melodiously, but still the verses were written down on available materials as an aid to memorizing and guarding it, and these were collected and ordered in book form both privately and, at a later stage, institutionally.

The Quran is composed of 114 parts or chapters of unequal length. Each chapter is called a surah in Arabic and each sentence or phrase of the Quran is called an aaya, literally a sign. Like the Bible, the Quran is divided into discrete units, referred to as verses in English. These verses are not standard in length or meter, and where each begins and ends was not decided by human beings, but dictated by God.

Why do we read Quran, even if we cant understand a single Arabic word???? There is a beautiful story: An old American Muslim lived on a farm in the mountains of eastern Kentucky with his young grandson. Each morning Grandpa wakeup early sitting at the kitchen table reading his Quran. His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to imitate him in every way he could. One day the grandson asked, ..

The morale of the story is Son, thats what happens when you read the Quran. You might not understand or remember everything, but when you read it, you will be changed, inside and out. That is the work of Allah in our lives.

One in every five persons on this earth firmly believes that the Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) is the last Messenger of God. He was a Muslim and there are more than 1.3 billion such Muslims today.

The word "Islam" is an Arabic word that means submitting and surrendering your will to Almighty God. The religion of Islam is the acceptance of and obedience to the teachings of God, which He revealed to His last Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

According to Abu Daud these four Sayings of The Prophet contain the summary of Islamic law. Actions will be judged according to intentions. The proof of a Muslim's sincerity is that he pay no heed to that which is not his business. No man is a true believer unless he desires for his brother that which he desires for himself. That which is lawful is clear, and that which is unlawful likewise, but there are certain doubtful things between the two from which it is well to abstain.

There are certain laws in the Quran forbidding Gambling, Intoxicants, Interest, and Stealing

God loves the kind About Jesus Good and evil Reaction to evil Do good Reward for righteousness Acts of compassion God is light Even the birds praise God Love and mercy Forgiveness and justice Honor one's parents

Five important virtues 1. love of Allah 2. Humility It requires Muslims to avoid the sense of pride and arrogance which makes them inclined to think more highly of themselves than others Humility will ensure that a Muslim thinks of others ahead of themselves and therefore avoids a selfish and self centered existence.

3. Modesty This relates most significantly to sexual ethics It includes the requirement to maintain appropriate standards which do not demean the opposite sex or sexual relationships 4. Natural and part of the design or plan of Allah This relates to matters of bio ethics, use of substances etc where people are expected to avoid things which artificially alter the intention of Allah's creation It also relates to the concern for the environment This requires the protection and care for the natural world and prevents environmental exploitation for selfish reasons

5.

selflessness This virtue governs human interaction, particularly at an economic level It also includes an obligation to provide material support to the poor

The Saving of Life Life and Death is in Allah's Hands Human Beings Should Not "Play God" Abortion

The prophet Muhammad (saws) said: "I have been sent to perfect the morals". The Quran is the criterion (furqan). Anything that contradicts the Quran is not from Islam. The following is a collection of some of the moral and ethical teachings of the holy Quran, the book of God. Relevant verses have been gathered together under specific headings. Many verses have been omitted to avoid repetitions and maintain conciseness. A lot of verses mention more than one moral, however very often separate headings have not been created to cover all the morals. All the verses are taken from the Shakir translation unless stated otherwise.

Abortion {17:31}And do not kill your children for fear of poverty; We give them sustenance and yourselves (too); surely to kill them is a great wrong. Arrogance {31:18} And do not turn your face away from people in contempt, nor go about in the land exulting overmuch; surely Allah does not love any self-conceited boaster;

Backbiting {49:12} .. and do not spy nor let some of you backbite others. Does one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? But you abhor it; and be careful of (your duty to) Allah, surely Allah is Oft-returning (to mercy), Merciful.

Benefiting Others {4:36} And serve Allah and do not associate any thing with Him and be good to the parents and to the near of kin and the orphans and the needy and the neighbor of (your) kin and the alien neighbor, and the companion in a journey and the wayfarer and those whom your right hands possess; surely Allah does not love him who is proud, boastful; Charity {2:271} If you give alms openly, it is well, and if you hide it and give it to the poor, it is better for you; and this will do away with some of your evil deeds; and Allah is aware of what you do.

Debts Comment: Islam encourages the waiving of debts and assisting another person to pay their debt. Divorce {2:231} And when you divorce women and they reach their prescribed time, then either retain them in good fellowship or set them free with liberality, and do not retain them for injury, so that you exceed the limits, and whoever does this, he indeed is unjust to his own soul; Forgiveness and mercy{7:199} Take to forgiveness and enjoin good and turn aside from the ignorant.

Despair {12:87} and despair not of Allah's mercy; surely none despairs of Allah's mercy except the unbelieving people.

Enjoining the Good and Forbidding the Evil{3:104} And from among you there should be a party who invite to good and enjoin what is right and forbid the wrong, and these it is that shall be successful.

Fair Trade{17:35} And give full measure when you measure out, and weigh with a true balance; this is fair and better in the end.

Freedom of Belief{2:256} There is no compulsion in religion; truly the right way has become clearly distinct from error; therefore, whoever disbelieves in the Shaitan and believes in Allah he indeed has laid hold on the firmest handle, which shall not break off, and Allah is Hearing, Knowing. Good Natured{3:159} Thus it is due to mercy from Allah that you deal with them gently, and had you been rough, hard hearted, they would certainly have dispersed from around you; pardon them therefore and ask pardon for them, and take counsel with them in the affair; so when you have decided, then place your trust in Allah; surely Allah loves those who trust.

Fornication / Adultery{17:32} And go not nigh to fornication; surely it is an indecency and an evil way. Courtesy {16:125} Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and goodly exhortation, and have disputations with them in the best manner; surely your Lord best knows those who go astray from His path, and He knows best those who follow the right way.

POSITION OF ETHICS IN ALL RELATIONS Religion starts in believing in any supreme power and surrendering to the will of the God. Belief makes a mans life strong and he leads the life in the right path. Ethics is the basis of religion.

From early ages until now many religions have originated in this world, and may have died out and many are still left, but all of them have pointed out Ethics. We may call them the pioneers of Ethics, which is no false statement. In Ethics the limitations are limited though religion stresses upon rights and duties on a wide scale.

Ethics is related to the freedom of individuals and will of individual but religion imposes limitations. In Ethics minds power is superior. Though in religion, particular feelings are important. Ethics is related to human contact whereas religion is directed towards some supreme soul. Lets now see what the position of Ethics in different religions is.

As far as Islam is concerned every prophet has stressed on Ethics. This ethical trend was set by Hazrat Adam which continued till the last prophet i.e. Holy Prophet Muhammad(P.B.U.H.). The word Islam means to obey or surrender and real sense it means to obey the orders of the Allah and Holy Quran is source of Ethics, which all the Muslims have to follow and obey. Certain rules which come under Ethics are to be obeyed by all Muslims such as:-

1)Be content or happy with the will of God. 2)Spread money for Gods cause. 3)Help the poor and needy. 4)Share neighbors' and friends happiness and sorrows. 5)Do justice. 6)Be patient in grief. 7)Be helpful to orphans, helpless and needy people. 8)Adopt cleanliness in life. 9)Treat everyone with love and affection. 10)Cover the ill deeds of others. 11)Earn with honesty. etc.

Before Islam people were fed up monarchy, landlord ship, Jewish, spiritualism etc. Islam threw light on ethical values and people started accepting the new religion Islam.
