A crusher is a machine designed to reduce large rocks into smaller rocks or rock dust. Crushers may be used to reduce the size, or change the form, of waste materials so they can be more easily disposed of or recycled, or to reduce the size of a solid mix of raw materials (as in rock ore), so that pieces of different composition can be differentiated.

Roll crusher (including crushing roller and ring) is constituted of circular shaft, which is parallel and mutually running. The material enters into the interval between two rollers and in proper situation, the material is twisted and crushed partially.

There are several types but here two of them are going to be discussed. They are as follow Single roll crusher Double roll crusher

A single roll crusher uses one wheel to grind up mining material, such as coal, salt, ore and slag.

These crushers come with crushing rings, teeth or shells made of high quality steel. The crushing plate has a replaceable comb plate in case of wear and tear. A single roll crusher have its application in producing medium particles in cement industry.

These are mainly used for the crushing of medium or lowerhardness mines and rocks with medium or lower rigidity in mine selection, chemicals, cement and building materials industrial production.

Roll crushers will only crush material down to a minimum particle size of about 2 mm. A roll crusher crushes using compression, with two rolls rotating about a shaft, towards the gap between the rolls. The gap between the rolls is set to the size of product desired, with the realization that the largest feed particle can only be 4 times the gap dimension.
