Types of Communication
There are 2 types of communication: 1. Verbal Communication.
2. Non verbal communication.
Verbal communication
Verbal communication is communication that uses words either : a. Written communication : Letter, news papers, or e mails etc The effectiveness of written communication depends on the style of writing, vocabulary used, and grammar.
Verbal communication
b. Oral Communication : Refers to the spoken words and can be established either: Face to face. Over phone. Voice chat on the internet

Body language
Body language is body movements that depend on a persons attitude or feelings.

Barriers to communication
Anything that prevents understanding of the message is a barrier to communication.
BARRIERS TO COMMUNICATION :
Emotional barriers
If you are engrossed in your emotions for some reason, you tend to have trouble listening to others or understanding the message conveyed to you.
Perception
Our preconceived attitudes affect our ability to listen.
Example: We listen uncritically to persons of high status and dismiss those of low status.
Language
Inability to converse in a language that is known by both the sender and receiver, could lead to misunderstanding between the sender and a receiver.
Gender Bias
Stress
When a person is under immense stress, he may find it difficult to understand the message, leading to communication distortion. At the time of stress, our psychological frame of mind depends on our beliefs, experiences, goals and values
