INTRODUCTION

What is CLOUD COMPUTING? Cloud computing is an emerging computing technology that uses the internet and central remote servers to maintain data and applications.

CLOUD COMPONENTS

Clients
Clients are the devices that the end user interact with to manage their information on the cloud. Types of clients:-

Mobile Thin Thick

Datacenter
The data center is a collection of servers where the application to which you subscribe is housed. VIRTUALIZING SERVERS A software can be installed allowing multiple server instances on a single physical machine(or server).

Distributed Servers
Servers at geographically disparate locations. Advantages: In case of failure Resource extension

Cloud Computing and Virtualization

What is Virtualization ? "Virtualization,in computing, is a technique of creating a virtual rather than an actual version of something." Types of Virtualization: Full Virtualization Paravirtualization

Full Virtualization
Full Virtualization is a virtualization technique used to provide a certain kind of virtual machine environment.

The result is a system in which all software running on the server is within a virtual machine.

Highlights: Sharing Isolation Emulation

ParaVirtualization
It is a virtualization technique that allows operating systems to run on a single hardware device at the same time by more efficiently using system resources.

Types of CLOUD
o o o

Public Cloud:public for purchase, resale etc. Private Cloud:privately owned by organisation Hybrid Cloud:software+services

SERVICES
It is a concept of being able to use resuable, fine-grained components across a vendor's network.

Infrastructure as a service(IaaS) servers, routers, hardware based loadbalancing, firewalls, storage and other n/w equipments. Software as a service(SaaS) applications hosted as a service, accessed via internet by the customers. Platform as a service(PaaS) resources required to build applications and services completely from the internet.

CLOUD V/S GRID COMPUTING

Grid Computing A large project is divided among multiple computers to make use of their resources to complete the project(or task).

Cloud Computing Opposite to grid computing. It allows multiple applications to run on a single machine.

SECURITY
The relative security of cloud computing services is a contentious issue which may be delaying its adoption. Some argue that customer data is more secure when managed internally, while others argue that cloud providers have a strong incentive to maintain trust and as such employ a higher level of security.

Why Cloud Computing ?

Pay per Use Instant scalability Security Reliability APIs

CONCLUSION
Cloud computing is a better way to run your business. Instead of running your apps yourself, they run on a shared data center. When you use any app that runs in the cloud, you just log in, customize it, and start using it. Thats the power of cloud computing. Finally, cloud apps dont eat up your valuable IT resources. This lets you focus on deploying more apps, new projects..........

THE BOTTOM LINE

Cloud computing is a simple idea, but it can have a huge impact on IT Industry.
